Complete BS. If you drive aggresively you need the Brembos. take it from me. On other cars I have owned, my rotors have warped, and not because I ride them.
YES the brembos do decrease stopping distances significantly . Please can someone supply hard #s?
One more thing; To claim that a tire upgrade is better for stopping distance than a brake upgrade is sheer idiocy, unless your upgrading from 180s to 245s!
No offense but this sounds like someone trying to justify why he didnt get the track model, but secretly wishes he did!

I believe I tried to prevent this!
(Please, no know-it-all corrections! these are approximations that are close enough!)

as for traction not affecting stopping distance, in a single stop, both brakes engage ABS, meaning both brakes can stop the car so quickly that the tires lock up, indicating that with more traction, youd be able to stop shorter, and that is more or less the ONLY way to shorten stopping distance.
new brakes cures fade.
new tires reduces stopping distance.
Id bet 20 $ I could stop shorter than a track with my aftermarket tires and stock brakes. probably take 10 stops before the 2 could even break even.
take it or leave it.

yes rubber will ALWAYS help stopping.... also true what the otha kat said, the brembo's distanes arent that different than 3-5 feet, which i mean..... its still less, but they show virtually no brake fade. which is their advantage

They performed 20 stops per car.
The averages were:
60-0 100-0
Stock Perf. model 118.01 333.57
Stock Track model 117.28 328.30
ST 332mm front 115.83 326.87
ST 355mm front 115.08 326.16
how incredably different...
I will be the first to say the track brakes stayed cooler, but it didnt seem to hurt the performance model too much...

selecting models depends on what you want to do with the car. If you want to individualize you car with more unique setup(wheel, suspension, electronics)..then Base is probably best [althought..you would miss out on the Xenon HD and aftermarket units are $$$ the last time i checked] or perhaps Enthu. trim.

braking systems
We have 3 of us that AutoX here around SLC, 2 of us have the track model and the other is an Enthusiast(sp), anyway at the last race he was having problems with his version of the traction control, and was having to pull the fuses on his ABS system, the 2 of us with the track model have not run into that problem.
Anyone have a guess on how to get some camber into the front end? We all have found problems in that we are running on the outer 2 inches of the tires in turns, we have been playing with tire pressures, and one has been experimenting with toe out. I took mine into Nissan and found the alignment was all wacked out, they reset it for free, but the front has to be set at o.o4 degrees in to get any Neg camber at all.
Any help appreciated! John
