Note to self: Don't use Fix a Flat in Winter!

Came out of work, had a flat in a 255/35/20, used Fix-a-Flat to get to the gas station. Pumped up tire, now it feels out of balance with harsh shuddering at about 45-60 MPH.

My guess is that the Fix-a-Flat froze and is basically a big block of ice in my rim? :icon22: Although it was very cold, it wasn't even freezing weather.

Fix a Flat is junk to begin with. Plus it pisses off the guys at the tire center who have to clean it.

350z2go Dec 17, 2007 11:36 AM

^^^ haha never thought of that but u right i never use it tho

Yes we know about fix-a-flat. Essentially you just filled a tire with glue. It may be a little difficult to get off the wheel.

They're definitely the first thing I think about when I catch a flat in 37 degree weather.

Thanks for the tip. I have never used the stuff and now I probably never will.

good thing you don't have expensive rims. Fix a flat are more for steelies IMO. They can mess up wheels pretty easy.

Sean Dec 17, 2007 02:30 PM

they mess up TPS sensors don't they.

Note to self: Don't use Fix-A-Flat if you don't want to buy new TPMS sensors!

Note to self,
*** fix a flat is $hit and NiSSan does not recommend use

*** makes 1 hell of a mess

*** great for killing TPS, next time your at the stealership just price these bad boys

****when the weather gets cold same as when the weather is warm change the damn tire and then directly to a reputable tire shop the have the tire fixed and remounted

*** what were you thinking???

phreaktor Dec 19, 2007 05:00 AM

***Nissan doesn't recommend that you install coilovers, but you did that didn't you?

***The mess is inside the tire?

***Don't have TPS

***Already took it off and the tire is shot. It wasn't the Fix-a-Flat. It was the inside of the tire being bubbled from riding on it.

***I was thinking that I was freezing my balls off and I wanted to get to the gas station down the street.

:)

Please don't ever use fix a flat, it coats the inside of your rim with a nice pile of crap that is a bish to remove. Not only that but when it dries it screws up the balance on the wheel so it will start to vibrate. Its truly just in case of an emergency only type thing.
