Tires for 18" Work Emotion Cr's

Hey all!

I just put a down payment on some work emotion cr kai's that will be arriving in about 3 weeks!

Here's the size : 18 x 9.5 20mm offset.

I was wondering what would be the best tire size to go for.

I guess I was looking at 275/35/18 as my first choice in size. i like the look of this tire size versus the 40 sidewall profile.

What do you all think?

Also what's a good, yet not TOO costly tire. I was looking in the price range of $150 to $200 or so.

I spotted the Falken Azenis ST115 and the Toyo Proxes 4. Any reviews, input, opinions? ANy other suggestions would be awesome.

Thanks guys.

how come you didn't get a staggered offset? Just curious.

wayneside Feb 2, 2008 12:07 PM

if you want a lot of grip...check out the Dunlop Direzza Z1...they have a 275/35/18. i have 265/35/18's on mine and they are really nice! either way...those wheels will look good!

good luck to ya!

I didn't wana do staggered because I want to be able to switch the wheels around the car in case I ever need to. Also I've heard that doing staggered will mess you up if you try to autox. (not sure how true that is). And i would much rather just keep it simple and all the same. Plus this way I can be wide in the front AND back :D haha

Either way, I can't wait to see how it looks. My friend has em on his blue rx-8, and they look amaazinnngggg. So now ill be able to look at my car and be like....AMMMAAZZINNNGGG

Do you think I should do 265/35/18 or go for the 275/35/18? Its a 10mm difference, and yea it will add more traction, but will it look goofy?

go 275...it will fill out the fender more. if you are going to auto-x you definitely will like these tires!

for more grip and a quieter tire at low cost, check out the Vredestein (forgot the name =, but it's their highest performance tire) and the new Sumitomo that the Tire Rack tested not long ago. Both are great for a low price.

3 weeks? that's fast, most of vendor told me it will take around 30-90 days

I have four 18x9.5 +22 wheels. I'm using 245/40 in the front and 255/40 tires in the rear. It handles amazing. If you're worried about understeer, front camber arms will fix that. This is a rear wheel drive car. It helps to have a little extra rubber in the rear.

Yea they already had a shipment coming in, so he said they had 5 sets available. pshh I jumped on that. Plus they were supposed to give me free lugs with the wheels. Dude calls me back the day AFTER that sale was over...I'm gonna see if I can still get them.

Well if I just do 275 in the front and back, isnt that like enough rubber all around, period?

you can do 275 all around... just be prepared for a slightly heavy stearing wheel at lower speeds. I really noticed it when I went to a 265 up front.

I just bit the bullet on some new Vredestein Sessanta tires. I have yet to drive them being it is winter, but have them all mounted up. They have good reviews and for the money, they seem to be a great value. Email AFS wheels for pricing. I would think you could get all 4 shipped to your door for around 700-725 bucks.

Bump this thread, I'm about to order tires and I cant decide. I have 275/40s on it now and I don't know weather to go with a 275/35 or a 245/40. Here are pics what do yall think. I am gonna put some spacers on it to make it +10 or somethin near that.

Wow, I like that.

yea me too hahaha that looks really good. I didn't want to run different tires though, that way I can rotate wheels If I need to.

LOVE that color combo though. kudos

I just wanted to bump this thread. Do you have pics of the 275/35 on all 4? I just bought these same exact wheels with the same offsets. Just curious on how it looks. Did you have to roll the fenders?

jjellyneck Jun 7, 2008 11:57 AM

But I do believe he had to roll the rear fenders. That size tire is apparently right on the edge of needing a fender roll--probably depends on the wheel offset. Maybe slightly less aggressive offset = no fender roll with the 295.
