I'm heated and don't know what to do!!!!!

I'm pissed off right now cuz it seems like every shop I deal with no matter how professional or how much someone recommends them I get FAWKED over hard!!!!!! This recent time it was my stock Rays wheels.
I'm getting them PC at one of the best and most reffered shops for PC wheels in Portland. I said this is what I want (PC black with a red lip TA) He said no problem. I told him I've read over the forums and they said just sandblast and PC it's a 3 days turn around. He agreed on the job. A week went by without a call and decided to go meet them face to face to see what's up. First the guy who was suppose to be painting my lip red that day was on vacation and didn't say anything to me. I said alrigth fine then I went to see the progress of my wheels. I want to see them PC. He told me they were over at the PC shop so took a trip over there. I asked to see them and Look at that!!!! Not there either!!!! It's over at the chem stripper getting the factory stuff taken off... I was like dude it's been a week WTF?!?!
I straight up told him I need these wheels by Wednesday (mind you this was on Friday and I delivered them the Friday before) because I have a car shop to attend (not true but it made him feel bad) So he said he will get it back stripped and have them PC on Monday; get them over to the painter on Tuesday and ok to pickup on Wednesday or Thursday.
So today I get a call telling me that he needed me to check out one of the wheels that just got back from STRIPPING!!!!! I lost it then and asked him what the problem was. He said that the PC stripper isn't removing the primer on the wheel and he had to go and lightly sandblast that off it. and called to make sure I knew I wasn't getting ripped off!!! At this point I told him to do what was necessary to get the wheel done and to paint. At the end of that call he told me that the guy who's painting my wheel didn't even know what he was doing for me?!?! I dropped off multiple detailed pics and went over with him for an hour on what I wanted. I called him back and left a message asking what the deal was.
Now the plan is to get the weels PC tomorrow and sent over to the painter to do the lip and get it all back on Friday. At this point I'm really sick and tired of getting bent over by shops. Anyone got suggestions or comments on the whole Primer won't come off deal. I don't know much about wheels but I know enough. Also why are mine taking so long when others have had a 3 days turno around?!?! Sorry for the long rant but I'm officially over the edge about this!!!! :icon20: :icon20: :icon20: :icon20:

I don't have an answer for ya, but it sounds like your gettin pushed off. Are you talking to ownership or just the $6.50 an hour stooge they put up front? At this point I would make sure I was speaking to ownership and let them know how disapointed ( hold back the flames until after you get your rims back) you are in their customer service. Good Luck and after you get your rims back def let people know the shops name so we don't go there;.

I'm dealing witht he owner himself and have deffinitely halted my flames. I'm talking to him more stern but not a jackass... He's a cool guy and knows his stuff but the more I hear about other shops and what they're charging I regret taking mine to him. Other people say there shop sand blasted everything then PC them done that's it. I'm having tog o through chem stirp and now sand blasting and then PC and it's coming out of my pocket!!!!

a. Demand that they return the wheels now as is.

or

b. Let them finish the wheels. Negotiate a price adjustment because the job took too long.

Should I ask for a price adjustment before or after the wheels are done? PS just a little update. The guy who is painting my wheels gave me a quote to paint the lip of the wheels red... Get this... $400.00!!!!!!!!!!!! Understandably I denied and am either going to DIY it or not do it at all.. My buddy also suggested that I do what he did to his bike and buy a wheel stripe and use that...

Good luck!

wow that really sucks. i would def be pissed off as you are. but i would deffinitly be making a price addjustment.

I like the wheel stripe idea, if the tire shop does a bad job, its an easy fix. One of the problems with using a good shop is the long wait times, I have never got anything back on time from my paint guy but the paint match is always top notch.

overZealous1 Feb 19, 2008 10:18 PM

man, sounds like pretty much a normal dealing in the auto industry to me, lol. i am so used to having EVRYTHING take longer than they say, so i tell them i need it before i actually do and it is an emergency type situation. then i will usually get it close to on time.
wonder if it is the same shop i was (and am currently) working with?

JDSMotoring Feb 20, 2008 05:05 AM

:icon20: Damn man i would be pissed off if i was you too. Hopefully everything works out and you get your rims back PC the way you wanted.

tware Feb 20, 2008 06:52 AM

my PC-ing experience is about like yours. And the job came out crappy and needs to be stripped off (now thats *really* hard to strip with 3 new coats of PC - silver+clear). Guy didnt listen, didnt care.. when we started trying to work out how to deal with the sh!tty job he did, I just decided to never deal with him again and write off the loss. Wasnt worth the increased blood pressure.

I'm already not getting it back the way I wanted.. I wanted it PC black with a red lip. and found out the guy was going to charge me $400.00 just to do the red lip... So I'm just going to pick them up PC black. Anyone have suggestions on how to do the lip myself? Thanks for all the comments I'm deffinitely going to try and negotiate the price for all the S*** that's happened.

I keep my car stock so that I can spend my money on things that actually change my life for the better, and I don't have a bunch of morons pawing at my car all day.

Ciao!

they call it a hobby. Hobbies generally cost money and generally improve your life, if you can afford them.

RedBullRR Feb 20, 2008 10:57 AM

Personally I would have taken the wheels somewhere else if there **** isnt together like you say.

tware Feb 20, 2008 11:05 AM

Problem is, once they have the wheels and have promised you what you asked for, it's alittle late. Hindsight is great, but at that time, you think "I'm dealing with professionals... we'll get this worked out" But sometimes, not so much

ni$mo350 Feb 20, 2008 11:18 AM

Exactly... I'm a true car fanatic and couldn't leave anythign stock.. Even on a new Porsche turbo I would have to change at least a few things around. It's a drive to not only be different but push the limits of what perfection in my eyes is... + stock is cool but just isn't as bad ass is even the smallest mods (IE: Painting my STOCK wheels)
