18'' to 17''s
I have 03 performance model, with the stock 18's, 18 x 8. Its time to get new tires so why not complement 'em with new wheels, so Im looking at the Enkei Racing RPF-1, but im thinking about going 17 x 8.5, but still not sure. I need to do some research. Im not looking for good looks, Im looking for a smart choice that can help my performance and budget.
I'd appreciate any suggestions, comments, "pros and cons", etc. Thanks. |
This style wheel looks really small in 17". If you must go 17", get 9" +22 for the front and 10" +18 for the rear. I'd get the 18's, 9.5 +15 front and 10.5 +15 rear.

17 x 8.5 with the correct offset works well. You can go with a
F-235/50WR17 R-255/50WR17. |
What would be the best width and offset? I want it for performance but also keeping in mind that I make a little less $ than bill gates. I was thinkinng about going with my factory size but just smaller.

Don't waste your $ on stock widths and offsets. It's a super conservative set up and won't look as good as it could. Why do you think there are so many threads about spacers?
I already listed the widths and offsets that will fill out the fender well and allow you to run wider tires. |

Wider tires won't be that much more, the performance difference is worth it. If you go aftermarket, do it right.
If cost is your main concern, just pick up a set of used OEM 17's with tires for $400. They'll look acceptable on the car and it will be cheaper than buying 18" tires. |
Proper off set will help reduce tram-lining on worn/grooved pavement. I run the RPF-1's in 17X9" +17X9½" I can run 245/45F +255/45R or 274/40F +285/40R I run the 35mm offset on the front and 38mm rear, both w/5mm spacers to get OEM offset. Just adding the front spacers made the car much better to drive on bad freeways.

How about 5zigen fn01rc in 17x10 +12 all around and slam it that would look hot!!!:) All that concavity and light as hell....how's that for looks and performance??

I think the person wants performance upgrade VS. "looks good to somebody" and worst performance and handling VS. stock.
