Why 19's and not 20's?

I'm getting ready to buy some wheels and do not know why 19's are so popular. Many people say that 20's will fit fine. Are 19's better performance wise?

Performance went out of style a long time ago.

20's look nice with a bodykit and lowered suspension, but they usually weigh more, and people don't like that...i have no problem with it...if you don't track your car, 20's are totally fine

Why not 21's? Why not 22's? You have to draw the line somewhere and the general consensus is that 19's are the best blend of looks and performance. If you want 20's then get them. I don't want 20's because they look too big IMO, almost cartoonish.

Not much, but every single aspect gets affected slightly, such as:
overall weight, rotating mass, cost of the wheels, cost of tires, ride quality, looks (although I know this is totally personal taste). So once you add all these things together, I say 20's arent worth it.

performance-wise, 20's are worse than 19's, 19's are worse than 18's......it just comes to where you want your balance to be with looks/performance

bingo.

OP, get what YOU like. It's YOUR car. There probably isn't a single mod that is going to make 100% of onlookers happy...so don't mod for the sake of outspoken members on this site. If you do something far against the grain though, don't be surprised if it isn't met with enthusiasm :) 20s hardly qualifies as that though. Good luck on your purchase.

haha at this thread.

the comon sense genie says.

bigger rims = SLOWER CARS
Z=sports cars which means cars go vrooom vrooom FAST!
18/19= best combo looks wise and performance wise

close thread. kthxbi

Saw a UGLY ass older model Lexus with 22's on it the other day. Looked like a 4x4.

Was runing 245/30/22 tires. Had a HUGE bend in the front wheel.

That's enough reason alone to stay away from 20's, on potole ridden streets, since you would/should be running a 30 series tire..

If you're not too concerned abotu the slight performance loss go 20's but as the above poster said if youy live in the city 20's may be a problem because of potholes. I'm in Chicago which is pothole central after New York (we might take the cake this year) and on my last car I has 20's and bent two on a pothole. This time with my Z I might just go with 19's but I kinda want 20's for the added look.

The only reason I asked was because I was trying to buy some 19's but they said they discontinued them and only make 20's in that style now. Was just wondering if I should just look for a different style or buy the 20's. I didnt really want to buy the 20's so I was just seeing what everyone else thought.

Well there's your answer right there. You don't want 20's then don't get them. Don't worry about everyone else view on it. When it's all said and done it's your car and money and you'll be the one driving the car so you have to be happy with your choice. You're really not gonna get a one sided view because there's alot who have 19's and alot who have 20's. Just get what you really want. I personally like 19's and 20's.
