Anybody riding on aftermarket 17s? Let's see some pics...
I'm considering going down a wheel size and I'd like to see some rim choices of those with 17s.

It's pointless to say why. That's not what this thread is about. If you don't have pics to contribute, don't post.

I had 17" X 9" Borbet wheels on my Z when I first got it almost 5 years ago. I used them because I already had them from my Stealth and they fit. They have since been replaced by 18" wheels. I think the 17's were on for about 6 months.

(I go through two full sets per year.) |

17's are definetly NOT the best choice for the track. 355mm rotors won't fit under most 17's. The 355 rotors are a big step up in performance from the 335/328 rotors. For autocrossing 17's are ok.

To small for my taste, even for track duties. You can find lightweight 18's somewhere

RPO model 1's +1...there's a big cost difference! (I only switched to 18's this yr b/c I was looking for some very specific rim/tires combinations that I could only find in 18's) |
17 inch tires can be heavier than 18s!! as can rims! it's very odd, I know.

yep. Lots of time the 17's have a higher aspect ratio than the 18's...usually the total diameter of either a 17 or 18" rim/tire combination ends up being the same. (so you might get a lighter 17" rim, but the weight is just shifted to the tire) |
so 18s might be better than :) drat!
and the 17 inch Sumi's were more expensive than the 18s in the same size (255/40/17 and 255/35/18)! bastards! |
