isn't that a 3 peice wheel?

sry110 08-26-2008 09:10 AM

Couldn't you order a new outer lip section from Work to replace it? I wonder what the cost is to replace that part vs. have it reworked.

a good shop can make it look as good as new, costs usually around $100 to $150.00 per wheel. hopefully someone in your area has had experience with this and can point you to the right shop.

Call Velvet Touch, they fix my 5zigen Hyper 5ZR twice and did an excellent job.

NO NO NO. This can be repaired by yourself. These rims are easy to curb b/c
of the soft metal lip. I cannot replace the clear, but I can walk you through a
simple process to hand refinish the lip. Did you bend the rim at all? or is it just
curb? My process will not repair a bent rim, however you can handily fix a scratch
or some chunked metal. Can I see a picture? Then I will give you the step-by-step.
Post up and we will go from there. Calm down all will be fine.

In my experience ordering a replacement barrel is a virtually impossible task,
and the barrel is PRICEY!

No problem. PM me your phone number and I will talk you through the
fix. I just don't want to write an oratory on my process.

I'd love to see pics on how this turns out. Mistakes will happen.

+1 for offering the help to him, L. :thumbup2:

Why not? An 'oratory' might help some of us if we ever have a similar situation... :dunno:

Come on, I know you wanna be the hero of n00bs 'round the world! Lol~ :-)

Gah, I damn well nearly spilled my coffee when I saw that curb rash.

Tips to folks who find it hard to parrallel park:
A.) Lower the volume on your radio so you can hear once it checks the curb.
B.) Just park further away from the curb and gamble with the parking ticket.

Guys, this strips the F out of the clear coat. This is not some magical fix.
It involves sandpaper from 800-2000 grit and lots of mothers aluminium polish (sp?).
It is difficult to mitigate the collateral damage to the clear as you work
the curbage out. Therefore, I would prefer to not get people worked up when they
destroy the clear on their wheel at my direction. I prefer damaged clear to a curbed
wheel, but if you like your Meister's in a museum, well... GTFO.

Dude sorry to hear about your car bro. Just get them refinished for 100-150.

I think ive seen your car in fullerton once or twice! love those wheels btw!

Z04 09-11-2008 02:54 PM

was just messing with ya anyway. i know how you feel because i clipped a small bit on one of my NISMO wheels after driving perfectly with them for close to 5 years, but honestly that is easily fixed and should look like new when done
