Work XT7 18x8.5+9.5 offsets - advice needed
Alright, I did my fair bit of searching, browsing and fishing for the last month or so on this, but some stuff is still fuzzy.
Finding decent wheels here in Oz has proven to be pretty freaken hard, and my oem wheels have some curb work, and wear tinier wheels than I'd like. Not to mention there isn't exactly three fingers of thread left on them Which is how I lie and justify to myself forking out for new shoes.
I've finally found a place that has in stock work XT7 18" in 8.5 and 9.5, which is exactly what I want (245F 275R and I like the fit, don't like pinch or stretch on my tyres).
Only thing is the offsets are slightly higher than the 20 or 22 all around that seems so popular.
They are +25 and +30.
Now, to me, after some maths, that sounds slightly closer to the original setup and actually better than 22a/a when it comes to preserving suspension geometry. You guys reckon that they would fit and clear fine? I'd expect them to, but I've been wrong before
Also, is the +22 a/a popular over higher offsets for cosmetic reasons, which frankly doesn't interest me anywhere as much as functionality and staying close to factory specs, or is it actually closer to factory setup?
Thanks in advance.

That offset is fine, and the wheel widths will match well with the tires sizes you've chosen. You will be closer to stock than the +20/+22, but it will still be more pushed out (nearer the fender) than stock. If you are trying to err on the side of caution while keeping nearish the wheel placement, those offsets are good.
Stay out of the "stretched tires" thread, as they'll tell you to get -12 offsets and 225 tires.

I second that. Those offsets are fine. If your selection is small that's not a bad choice at all. You may want some spacers, but it's not necessary.
And stay away from the stretched tires threads like he said. I completely disagree that most of those tires/wheels "fit".

Alright, looks like I have popular backup on this. Except for the bears, but I'll live with that.
BTW anybody would know if xt7 are going to be TPMS compatible(03/04 touring model) please?
Found threads for other work wheels that said they were, but none for the xt7. I'd hope they would be if the meister are, but since I was told that it depends a lot from the angle of the valve I don't know if it's a matter of brand supporting it or not in general, or just some designs.
Thanks everybody for the replies.

Here are some pics of 18x9.5 xt-7 +38 all-around on 245/40/18 tires on my G. More a point of reference than a comparison as to how they would look on a Z. Can't wait to put a 255/40 in front and 275/40 in rear come this spring.

Do you even own a Z anymore? You're entitled to your opinion of what looks good, but my opinion is that your opinions are idiotic and you don't know jack about good fitment. Here's some data to support it:
Please go back to math class and figure out what Sigma is before playing with the big boys.

Where would we be without the forum police?
So... anybody's got any idea for the sensors on xt7 then?

Back OT, your 245/275 combo on 8.5"/9.5" wheels should look great. All the wheels I've had on our 350Zs, and that's many, have worked with the TPMS. The vendor selling them should know for sure though, or should be able to call the distributor they bought them from to confirm. Tell them you won't buy the wheels until they confirm, and hold them to it in case they get installed and the sensors don't work.

lol i didnt even look to see if there were questions asked in that mumble jumble.
for 100% accurate answers, i would call http://www.workwheelsusa.com/
trust me, they would know since they make the wheels.
i wouldnt rely on scott300 since ppl already know he doesnt know wheels on this forum. he just likes to type out junk and get everyone to wear mud oversized tires that look like garbage...... like on his car.

I'll repost this so you can attempt to answer. . .Please, I sincerely request an answer since you seem to know so much about tires. . .
Let's start off with a simple picture:
Does that look like a mud tire?
Just FYI, this tire is offered in 275, 295, 315, and 335 sizes for 17" wheels and 345 for 18" or 19" wheels! Let's all go mudding with our slick tires!
And don't worry, it's not just Hoosier and race tires that are in these sizes. Michelin makes their PS2 tire, which is OEM (that's original equipment manufacturer) on Porsche, in 335s for 17", 315 and 335 for 18", and 345 for 19". I don't know about you, but I don't see many 911s playing in the mud. You make no sense, and should be banned from giving advice in the wheels/tires forum.

Hey The JacO,
Not on here that often but saw this thread so I thought I could help. I am running XT7's on my Z right now 9.5 +20 on all four corners. The 245/275 should be a good set up. As for the TPMS you shouldn't have problem there either, but check with the manufacturer if you still aren't sure. I have them in mine and they work fine.
Oh and by the way if you search for XT7 in this area you will see a thread that I made showing what mine look like and the specs i used.
Nice choice of rims and good luck with the purchase.

I don't remember what tires he used (we supplied the wheels only) or what it was lowered on, but at least you get to see what the exact sizes look like
works with TPMS, clears many big brakes
And fwiw, Scott happens to be 100% on point with his tire info here. Not everyone wants or likes stretched tires. Not everyone wants or likes their wheel sticking past the body of the car, etc. So for those among us who prefer to use a wide tire on our wide wheels, he happens to be correct. If, however, you want to run very wide wheels and very small tires because that suits you - then that's fine too, whatever works.
that's hardly a 4x4 on mud tires

Well, still a lot of signal in the noise Thanks everybody for your posts, definitely helped.
And yah, I've had the importer check with work that sensors would be supported, but it's hard to ask of a regular small scale tyre shop to write you a warrantee of that kind, and first hand experience from users always beats some random dude's verbal guarantee.
Also I've done entirely too much impulse buying in my life, doing research and asking around is my own way to force myself to wait and mull on purchases longer Insofar it kinda worked and paid off.
Looks wise, take my word on it, I've scavenged for more pictures of installations than it's sensible to do, but thanks for the repost. It's always nice to see pics tantalizing you, kinda Christmas' eve 7yo feeling to it.
Thanks again, looks like I'll place the order on Tuesday.
