throw some 25mm spacers on the rear and 20mm spacers on the front and then you'll be good

"https://my350z.com/forum/wheels-and-tires/438136-official-aggressive-wheels-and-fat-tires-thread-6.html" This isn't the stretched-tire thread. That's why this is a new thread for guys that like a lot of tire on the ground. And no, your 275s on 10.5s and 245s on 8.5s don't count.

Hate to sound like a noob - A quick question to all the 285+ 19x10r 25 offset users. Are you having any rubbing issues?

I went from 275 to 285 and have been experiencing rubbing issues. Aside from trying to off load these new tires, or rolling the fenders any suggestions??

Or you could dial in more negative camber. Rolling your fenders would be the best choice though

I may get crap for this but it is a fat tire considering the size of the wheel. 18x9.5 +20 all around 275/40 R and 255/40 F. You don't need super low offsets to be aggressive.

You can run a lot wider tire on that wheel. :dunno:

Not even close, you need to be ~+5 to +0 with a 9.5 to be flush with a 275

my tires actually stick out past the fender with my setup, the wheels are almost flush, so i guess it depends.

Thats because you are still rockin a 4x4 stance. Once you lower it, the wheels will camber in and won't be flush

chili7412 06-23-2009 09:42 AM

Nice thread, I just got some 9.5 and 10.5 on 19’s with +22’s I was thinking of 255 up front and 295 in the back, but after looking all these sweet rides. I am thinking of going a little wider. My car is not lowered and the fenders are not rolled. I will adjust after the tires are on, but it sounds like I might need a 10mm spacer all around. So the question is what the widest I go in the back?

You could likely go 265/35 in the front. Anything larger than a 295 in the rear is pushing it with your set up. My wife's ZR has 19x10.5" +28 rears with a 305/30 PS2, and it is > < close to rubbing. It is not lowered. I don't know if there are 6mm more there. Grab a used set of 305s (that's what I did - I also have some if you're interested) to test fit. You don't need a spacer in the rear with that 295 tire. You could always try them later as well.

I have seen 285/35/19 rub in the rear without rolled fenders rub so you'll already be pretty close with the 295 if not already rubbing. If you roll your fenders 305 will easily fit

The rears are rubbing. I am trying to get my hands on a fender roller. The 295's are a bit wide IMO, and it all sticks out a bit too far. Recomended tires are 285's for the back, but I came across these so I got them. This is all on stock suspention, I have a full set of BC coilovers that I have not installed yet do to fender rolling.

Once you lower the car, you shouldn't have rubbing issues, especially if you're rolling the fenders.

Only if I run some massive negative camber, and that defets the purpose of those 295's.

Function over looks. I daily drive my car and fenders sitting on top of my tires is out of the question.

I will be going 285/35, 265/35 with my next set of tires. Rolled my fenders awhile back so I need something bigger to stuff in there.

cliffrlp 06-23-2009 04:14 PM

Horrible weather today in Gainesville, Fl...but I managed to snap a few shots before the clouds rolled back in for the 4th storm of the day!

Car is dirty - photos w/ canon s1000 (wasn't risking my DSLR in the rain) - nothing snazzy about the shots

Specs - Work XD9's 18x9 + 20 255/35 F
18x10 +3 (w/ 15mm spacer) 285/35 R
Dropped on Hotchkis springs & springmount cut in the rear 1/2". Will be rollin on PSS coilovers by summer end.
I'll take some better pictures once the v2 is painted and the ings sides are on!

I couldn't get photobucket to save the files vertical for some reason.

I'm seeing quite a few setups in here that DO NOT fit the criteria. Sad...

Yes, there have a been a few here and there, but not too far off.

I think the rule of thumb should be the following:

Front Wheels/Tires
- at least 9" wide
- 255 or more sized tire

Rear Wheels/Tires
- at least 10.5" wide
- 285 or more sized tire

Low offsets help the aggressiveness, but they don't always have to be less than a +15.

redlude97 06-24-2009 01:57 PM

I would say these are poor criteria, since a 255 on a 9" wheel is still pretty stretched. Fat tires should be defined as tires mounted on the lower end of the recommend wheel widths
8": 245
8.5": 255
9": 265-75
9.5": 275-285
10": 285-295
10.5": 295-305
As far as the other requirement, aggressiveness should be defined as at needing a fender roll in the rear at the minimum, and with corresponding offsets in the front. With fat tires, the minimum offsets for particular widths should be in this range or lower
Front
8": +0
8.5": +5
9":+15
9.5": +22
10": +25

Rear
9.5": +0
10": +8
10.5": +15
11": +22
11.5": +30

Even those guidelines are pretty generous

You are right, stretched wasn't the right word to use. It certainly isn't fat since a 9.5" wheel can fit up to a 285
