Am I the only one who doesn't get a hardon for Volk's?
Hey guys I've been reading the threads in this section alot, and from what I've read it seems like everyone in here goes crazy for Volk's. I guess my question to you is why they are so appealing to most people? I personally would never pick volk's for my Z because of the high prices for them. I think some of them look pretty good, but I've seen a lot of plain ones too (which people went crazy for)
My main question to you all is this: What makes volk's so appealing? And I know each person has their own opinions and this one is mine (I'm sure some people wouldn't like my style of rims either), I am in NO way talking down to Volk's, just wondering what the appeal is. Thanks! |
its like the versace of wheels.
your gonna start a sh*tstorm with this question but everyone thinks different. Me.....i def think there are SOME beautiful volk setups but there are ALOT that i hate and people seem to love them. Like everything else we buy people like going for the expensive/baller brands if they can. Me i go for what looks the best regardless of the names. Even tho obviously a volk wheel is gonna be better made than a no name wheel. I could never justify spending that much money on wheels cause i have better things to spend my money on. |
cuz dey iz pure JDM j00!!!!! :icon17: :icon17: :icon17:

lightweight - multi piece - JDM hotness
other wheel companies that offer wheels that are priced cheap usually are heavy (with wheeldude as the exception in the weight department :)) and or have rivets giving the illusion of a 2 or 3 peice wheel. they use chrome as opposed to (RMC) or polished and usually have weak off sets. The list can go on. Thankfully for the Z we have options. |

It would be really nice to track some volk's at the track. However, can't afford that luxury. I track my car with cheap wheels/ok quality. for my driving skills, I don't think having volks at the track would make a big difference. I believe most people choose their volks because of the high quality/finish of the wheels. The wheels are fantastic(made in japan... gotta love JDM), but the only reason I would get them in my situation is because I'd racing as a pro or some **** close to it. Or, either I have to much money sitting under my mattress.

I love Volk...GTS and SF Challenge FTW!
...I just don't have the money to afford it! :( |

So I take it most people who track their cars would be interested in volk's. It definitely is a high price to pay for the lightweight brand name. But that pretty much answers my question
Some are a tad heavier due to their cast design, but decently lightweight (see track pic below). http://lmsportscarclub.org/gallery/a...471a.sized.jpg https://i524.photobucket.com/albums/...tts300-myz.jpg Unless Volk sponsored me, I would never put a new set on my track car given the abundance of options. It's overkill, like wearing Prada designer sunglasses to play centerfield. |
It seems like everyone is finding the same thing I find wrong with volks: not being able to justify spending that much on wheels. I remember seeing some prices of volks (after I saw everyone talking about them) and figured out I could buy other nice wheels and some very nice mods to go with it.
To those with volks: are any of you ever concerned with your wheels getting stolen because of the fact that they cost so much? |
Don't hate because u can't or don't want to afford it. I want some bbs lm's so bad but I don't want afford them but I'm not gonna hate. This thread is just as bad as a Volk owner starting a hate thread on rotas. If u don't like volks, fine but don't start dumbass threads like this because it makes u look like a hater. For the record, I don't run on volks. :)

[QUOTE=ny300z;7856521]its like the versace of wheels.
^He's right, remember back in the good oh high school days, for example, where people had to have their JORDAN basketball shoes, or their OAKLY sunglasses, yea they look a lot like some of the cheaper shoes/sunglasses but its because they are obviously name brand and of course "cool." duh!:icon38: With all seriousness, yes volk wheels have the 2-3 piece option, and are extremely light weight. They also have a huge reputation with becoming an amazingly reliable brand when it comes to the "wheel crowd." Though, I do agree with the OP. There are some styles such as SF winning that are like hell yea! But there are some other styles that are just, eeeh-expensive because of the name. |

There are much more, cost-efficient, options for track wheels. Some are just as light and nearly as strong (see autox pic below). SSR Comps are a great, super-lightweight alternative (as are Enkei RPF1s, although they are a little heavier).

i've had different brands of wheels before and Volk seems to be the best so far. I'm hit countless of things on the roads...things i thought my wheels would not survive but put on a balancer and watching each wheel, non even has a slight bent. And it's pretty light for 19s.

I won't pay for the name, quality wheels can be had at 1/2 price.

But thank you for your useless input. |
