Vendor problem

How long do you give a wheel manufacturer past their expected ship date? I was told my wheels would be done in 2 to 3 weeks (but I knew 3 to 4 was the norm) and I'm going on week 8. I realize the turn around time sounded too good to be true but don't you think it's false advertising to tell someone a product is to be done in a certain time period when they know it's most likely not feasible? I understand wheels take time to be produced but shouldn't the manufacturer be upfront on how long it's going to take? I'm to the point where I'm thinking about asking for a refund or doing a charge back. Thoughts?

If your talking about Volks, its a long wait.

Are these coming from Japan, or is a US company making them?

There was a thread about a US wheel maker that I hope this isn't regarding.

Not volks, made here in the USA.

P.S. Not 360 forged either.

Oh thats weird, I was going to ask if they were coming from Japan too, because I ordered a chargespeed lip kit at the end of september and it won't get here till early november. Yea if they are manufactured in the US then yea I would be like no thanks and order from somebody else. Have you tried contacting them?

Yup, they keep telling me try back next week. Don't get me wrong, they've always answered my emails but it seems as if I get the same exact response every time.

You may want to contact your CC company and ask what the time frame for charging something back will be.

It may be good info in case this drags on for several more weeks and you are past your limit for chargeback.

I heard charge back's are a nightmare. If I'm not mistaken I think you have as much time as you want since the item has not been shipped yet?

Dark8lue Oct 21, 2009 01:51 PM

I tould laugh if they show up on your door tomorrow..lol

Highly unlikely. However, if that did happen I would just withdraw the charge back and be done with it.

I've done it in the past, it's pretty straightforward depending on your CC company.

I would do it if I was in your position.

Even if he's said they are almost done?

I feel like I'm being strung along and I don't like it. I was told that the wheels would be done by Wednesday. It's Friday and I have nothing. I talked to the manager and he assured me that the wheels would be done soon but the parts to assemble them were still in customs.

Can someone who knows about wheels and the process it takes to make them chime in here please (3 piece forged for that matter)? I was told 5 weeks ago that my wheels were at the finisher. Now I'm being told they need parts in order to assemble them. Am I getting bullchitted? It sure feels like it.

AroundMyHorn Oct 23, 2009 02:02 PM

I recall in one of the emails that he said 2 of my wheels are done. Why would they finish two and not the full set?

Also, when I inquired about the wheels 3 weeks ago he responded in an a tone that rubbed me the wrong way. Would this statement bother you?

Don't worry, you will have your wheels soon enough. I
guarantee that!
Thank you.

Why should getting my wheels on time have anything to do with the quality of the product?

some stupid statement to make you more patient is all I can think of.

I just think I'm getting the run around. Sema or not, all I want is the truth and I don't think I'm getting it.

i went through something like this, but it was the middleman distributor that screwed me. they charged my card the day i ordered them, and from that point on would not aswer when i called andswer emails or anything. i used my banks credit card for the purchase and called them as soon as it seemd fishy. i got the money back on my card, but i had a 90 window to file the claim.

if i were you i would let them know you are contacting your cc company to make a "merchandise not received" claim and go from there.
