305's
Just wondering if I can get some input here. I have been looking at tires for the last month or so, and decided to go with the RE-11's over the R888. The bad thing is that the RE-11's don't come in the size I would like (285/30/19 or 295/30/19)
My wheels in the rear: 19x10.5 +22. Car is lowered, fenders are rolled and camber is within OEM spec, and I would like to keep it that way. Now, the RE-11's come in 305/30/19, and I know that they can be mounted on the 10.5" wheel. The question is, will they rub? They are a full inch taller though, so I may have to change the ride height...and that means alighnment again.. |
You will rub and every time you get a tires get an alighnment better to be safe than sorry...

+1 you will rub. I know the R888s need alot of camber to heat evenly. I'd check to about the RE-11s. doesnt make much sense to buy a race tire and not have it performing properly.

My wife's ZR has 19x10.5 +43s with a 305/30 tire.
-It does not rub at that offset -It does not rub with a 15mm spacer, or a net 19x10.5 +28 -It does rub with a 20mm spacer, or a net 19x10.5 +23, the fenders are not rolled though. It's a PS2 which runs a little narrow compared to the 305 R888 monster that I've seen in an 18". If you really want the 305s, find any pair of 305s on your local CL and see how close you are. That is a common 911 size, so they're out there. Those wheels look great! |
So you are saying that with the RE-11's in a 305/30/19 configuration on a 19x10.5 +22 wheel, lowered car and stock camber in OEM spec, I should be ok?

im running 305/30/19 r888 on a 10.5" inch +22 wheel dropped about 1.5" inches. no rub with fenders rolled, -2 camber, gonna get it aligned to -1.5 and drop it another half inch. i'll let you know how that goes.

I would really like to keep the camber within OEM spec. Don't like the uneven tire ware, and I am looking for best traction. |

The RE-11's are on top of the list. Just need to know if the 305's will rub or not. If so, I will go with the 285/35's then. |
I have Volk TE-37 Time Attacks (10.5 +22)with 305/30/19 PS2's and it does not rub. Im dropped on stance coilovers and Im pretty dang low. My Z also has been corner balanced and with rolled fenders btw.

Where are you guys finding 305-30-19 RE11s? I'd like to run those tires again but can't find that size on my new wheels.
(I admittedly I haven't searched too hard, but I checked Tire Rack-- warehouse in town, so it's the first place I visit-- & Discount Tire Direct.) |

I am here for traction, and not looks. That is why I don't want massive negative camber, and IMO it doesn't look good. What is the point of going with a 305 tire when only 80% of the tread is used? Anyways, I see that your not considering stretched tires so Im sure whatever set-up you decide on will be just fine. In the end, Ive had 275's, 285's and 305's in the rear and I have to say the best set-up for me has been the 305's. |
My car is fairly low, ok its pretty damn low and i'm running 305x30x19s in the back, the camber is between -2 and -3. Tractionwise its great. I would recommend it. I suppose the looks are subjective but I think it looks more like a race car. I honestly dont see that much neg. camber on TimeAttkz's car anyway. Its important to choose the right wheel too. You dont want a heavy ass wheel with huge tires.
