Freakin PISSED!
I have a track event the 13-14 of next month and THIS happens tonight..GRRRR
Can this be repaired? and if so would you trust it at speeds approaching 160 MPH? or should I quit crying about it and spend $500+ replacing it? http://i699.photobucket.com/albums/v...OR/Bentrim.jpg http://i699.photobucket.com/albums/v...R/IMG_6459.jpg |
well it can be fixed i would think
how did that happen you can cry or not you can also replace it |
Damn how did it happen?, you might just want to replace it if you really are going to be nearing 160mph, and tracking the hell out of your car. Lets be honest if anything happens at that speed it isn't good.

Would not trust at 160MPH+

Just have it repaired, simple fix. As is, it will cause a slight vibe at higher speeds. My track wheels had much worse bends, and worked fine at Cal speedway and willow springs.

5" damn rock OUTSIDE a construction zone..I purposely go around side streets to avoid it and I watch the road like a hawk being that my body kit is ~3 inches off the ground...just missed the damn thing..saw it at the last second and couldn't swerve fast enough...no telling what happened internally of the tire either..so even though it has less than 5000 miles it will be replaced also..
have emailed a few vendors to see if they have that rim and what its going to cost me...:( |
shouldn't be to bad of a hit aren't those rozza piaa's or however you say it.

+1 Repairing will put it back to 100%, just as solid as if it were new. Should only cost about $100-$150. No point in buying a new wheel. |
if it can BE repaired that is..
what wheels are those? name brand? if so - be prepared to pay up son.. |

Guess I will google wheel repair in Texas...Yes they are PIAA Super Rozzas 19X9 in the front and 19X10 rear..
So this track day will be my first "race track" experience...but i have done 3 open road races that were 118 miles in two legs. So like I said having it be safe "at speed" is my main concern....I usually race the 125mph class which is the average speed and in that class 140 tops...but next race am doing the 135 with a top speed of 168. |
sucks to see that, you have a clean car though

I know of an amazing place here in Houston if you want to make the drive. They specialize in higher end wheels (ie, iForged, HRE, DPE, Volk, Work, etc) and ive personally seen them do amazing things. Ive had my Volks repaired there a couple of times with flawless results. If your interested shoot me a pm and ill give you the name, number, directions. |
Well now it really blows..the rim is unrepairable.....the lip of the rim is a rolled lip which means its hollow...so they can't "build it up" and re-lathe and polish it....so now I am looking for a new rim....
The owner of "Wheel Technologies" (Austin, Dallas, Houston) is the one that showed me the rolled lip..I'll post a pic later... |
^ Dude, before you do, call these guys and email pics to them and tell them what Wheel tech told you. Ask for Art.
It may be non-repairable, but trust me asking this guy for a second opinion is worth the time. http://www.damagedwheel.com/home.html |

Is this a race down a closed section of Interstate? Where else can you find sufficient clear road to get up to those speeds for 100+ miles?
@Dave....yes a permit to close the highway is issued...check these out.. Http://www.BBORR.com http:??www.mporr.net BBORR is in west Texas between Ft. Stockton and Sanderson...its 2 legs so 59 miles each way..in the 125 class i drive it in about 28 and a half minutes..LOTS of fun.. MPORR was an inaugural Race that was supposed to happen the 15-16 of this month it was 45 miles each way but some newly elected asshat judge in Pecos county threw a wrench in it and its off this year..so as a consolation me and my team are going to TWS in college station the 13-14 of November for The Drivers Edge track event.. |
^ That sounds SICK! Never heard of that before.
Anyways, yes, DEF call them tom and let us know what he says. |
^^ The only place you can get such a great driving experience in the USA is Texas. Texas rocks!
It's a shame that a judicial suffering from uncertainty chooses to wreck one of the events. --Spike |
