Bridgestone Potenza RE-11's -- what size?
Hey guys,
Could use some help on what size tires to go with. My car is a DD with TT. Planning on getting some 18" wheels (wider also) down the road to have more options for rubber. For now Im going to stick with my 19" wheels. front: 19 x 8.5 + 21 offset rear: 19 x 9.5 + 23 offset I reviewed the spec sheet for the RE-11's on Tire Rack. I am considering going with the following: 255/35/19 275/30/19 Would those work ok with my wheels? Need to roll? Problems with traction control, etc? Any thoughts or comments are appreciated. Thanks! |
285/35-19 rear tire will work for you, the combo you listed will have problems.

Wouldnt the 285 be a bit wide for my wheel which is 9.5" ??
|
Its a stiff sidewall tire, will be fine. Seen it done many times on cars that people bought narrow wheels.
|
You can go with 285/40/19 instead of the 35 to give a better ride since the tire is a little bit taller. More comfort IMO
|
Out of curiosity why are you set on the Re-11? Save some money and get the Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1 Star Spec imo

I dont see that as an option for this tire. I checked Tire Rack's specs and also Bridgestone website specs. Does not seem to exist. |
star specs would be good but it doesn't come in 19's. I think the largest it goes is 275/35/18

I am running 19" wheels. As far as I can tell, this tire is not offered in 19". Only up to 18". I checked Tire Rack's website and the Dunlop website. Am I missing something here?? |

nope, you're not missing anything. Stick with your choice of RE-11's....IMO if you're boosted - sticky tires is a must

So I will stick with RE-11's 255/35/19 285/35/19 No issues with VDC or TCS or tire height or anything.....right? |
Should be fine.
|
Thanks to all for the help.
One thing that bothers me is that the rear sizes are not listed on the Bridgestone website spec sheet but they are listed on Tire Rack and when I place the order it says "in stock". |

Thanks. That's the plan. Currently running T1-R 245/35/19 and 275/35/19 and they just dont have the grip I need. Can break em loose in 3rd gear.

Order placed through Tire Rack.....shipment on the way.
Thanks again everyone! |
If that doesn't work, only street tire stickier, if you can stand the treadwear and noise, is the R888. :) I ran those last year. Now RE-11 and hoping that warm temps will bring some traction.
|
I would love to run the R-888 but they don't have the right sizes for my wheels. Someday I will make the Z my weekend car and then I'll run 18's with the R-888. For now I'm really looking to see how these RE-11's perform compared to my current T1R's.
I've heard good things about them. |
