Daily Driving 18's or 19's
 

Hey guys,

I daily drive my Z however it's time to do the deed and get some nice rims and a drop.

However since I daily drive should I get 18x8.5 +15 and 18x10 +20
or
should I get 19x8.5 +15 and 19x10 +20

Thanks for your input... Also after the wheels are on how much drop will be needed to minimize the fender gap without it rubbing.

It honestly depends on what you're going for. You'll have to consider cost of 19" tires being more, 19" wheels being heavier. But 19's do fill the wheel well better than 18's.

I have both, for looks I totally like my 19" Volks. But for cost of tires and weight of setup, I'd prefer my 18" rays track wheels

19's on a 35 series tire for DD is just fine...

this is personal preference man. i run 19's mainly for the look but at a higher expense.

19'S in my opinion are best for daily driving and looks.You could drop an inch without
any problems.Before you do anything,look into offsets and how wide a wheel you are planning to get.

totally up to you, everyone who doesnt have 20s will say 20s are ridiculous, but the key here is DONK wheels are DONK wheels.

19s or even 20s do NOT have to be heavier.
a 19 or a 20 in the same exact wheel however.. well.. of course they are.

Stock 17 wheel and tire combo is usually around 55 lbs if i recall correctly. Drives great, sick braking, nimble.

I have 20x12 wheels out back and am still right at factory 17" wheel and tire weight.. w a 325 tire. Rolling diameter is damn close too, almost dead on.

the idea is if you buy wheels for a v6 car w 240 hp to the rear wheels.. then the lighter the wheel ( while maintianing the same overall OEM heigths) , the more joyful the car appears to stay.

with a good tire, 20s are no more rough than 19s.

But in the end, 19s are very popular now, and id always roll a bigger whel than a smaller one unless you are a straight auto x racer.

and how do 245/35/19 and 275/35/19 tires sound?

No rubbing? then after the drop look clean?

Daily drove 19's for over a year, however they were forged so very light and very strong...

275 in the rear is nice and looks good, Tein S-techs is a good drop to get rid of gap but no slammed look.

18's

cheaper. nuff said.

19" rubber is retard spensive now.

My 19s are sitting in the garage collecting dust, I prefer the 18" rpf1s on my car for daily. Less strain on the suspension with lightweight 18s, makes the car feel more nimble.

19's since you live in florida

OP, I have been through many rims,usually buy and sell....19's diminish performance, but dep on your needs may be the answer. However, i just got my new setup done and will post pics soon. Square 18x9.5" 255/45/zr18 will need a small spacer in the back to adjust fully, but lets just say I am very impressed with the appearance,performance and overall friendliness for a car that I track 4-10x a season and dd in the summer. Just my two cents

Tires are more expensive for 19's and the ride quality on 18's are a little better.

18's work great IMO, 19's look better to some people, but since i don't wear huge diamond (or CZ) earings, bling chain etc etc , i don't care.

neither do most people who run 19's.

if you auto X, you like 18s.
And rightfully so.
And if you dont, skys the limit , find a wheel you like and buy it, pretty simple.
