315's
Someone's selling wheels off there stang locally they are 17x9 with 245/45/17 front and 17x10.5 with 315/45/17 rear I don't know the offset yet what offset do they have to be to work for me and will I need to roll fenders ?
Front:17x9 5.5 backspacing (245/45/17) Rear 17x10.5 6.5 backspacing (315/35/17) |
MEGA-sidewall FTL
|
If you have VDC, that would definitely throw it out of wack. And I can't imagine you could make that fit being that it is so tall/wide. Idk what you could compare it to, I've never seen somebody with a similar tire
|
Double check the tire size, i will bet they are 315/35-17
|
They're 17s, and have a sidewall almost as tall as the Empire State Building. Are you using these for drag racing? If not, I'd look for another set of wheels.
An offset around +20 will bring you nice n close to the fenders, but with those tires I'd be looking for around +25-30. He's not likely to know the offset, but he may know the back spacing. I'd take all the neccesary tools for measuring offset with you and have a chart for backspacing conversion handy. google "convert backspacing to offset" or something similar to find that. I haven't don the math, but that looks like VDC might get confused. |

3 years and you are not proficient using a offset calculator. Shame on you. |
My 18's have a 45 sidewall. No vdc here wheels and tires confuse the **** out of me anything else I'm good
|
well the 45 is a percentage. So your current sidewall is a percentage of your width, most likely 45% of 245. Now if you have a 315/45, your sidewall is 45% of 315. See where you are going to have problems? Much larger diameter and circumference.
|
^he doesnt have VDC, so he wont have any problems.
If the rims fit, you can use those tires. Thats a 28" rear tire compared to ~26" stock. I use 28" drag radial all the time. and with no VDC, it will be fine. |
Ok thank you the guy wants $500 and tires have 75% tread so you can't go wrong
|
Post some pics of em...kinda curious what these things look like.

This is going to look hilarious if in fact that's the specs.
EDIT: You still need to determine what the offsets are... |
why would it look hilarious? becuase of sidewall height? all you have to do it tuck it into the wheel well if you are that vain. its gonna need a drop anyhow.
6.5" backspace on a 10.5" rim is a ~+19 offset. good but you'll need fenders rolled for sure. if the 9" rim is 6.5" backspace as well that like a +38. terrible. |
Ok cool thx I'm gonna go and test fit them of course just wanted to make sure I'm not wasting my time. I was originally going to ct to pick up a winter set up and the person sold them after I made all the arrangements to come get them so I decided to go the total oposite I guess lol 315 here I come
|
wow so you guys were right the fronts are 17x9 offsets unknown with 245/45/17
rears are 17x10.5 with 315/35/17 offset 19? its an enthusiast so no vdc will i still be good the tires are only temp till i wear them out thank you everyone for the help |
Front and rear tires are the same height , if you have TCS the car will not like the tires. ABS will be slightly affected , but they will work.
