Default Cosmis Racing Wheels thread

Can't believe no one on here has asked about these yet. At first I was relatively skeptical about the wheels because they are around the same price as Rota's for 18x9.5's / 18x10.5's, and after doing some research I found out they're made/engineered in Taiwan. But in reality they have some cool wheels, offsets are pretty good, sizes are pretty good, and I've heard no horror stories about them. They also have some new wheels that will be coming out in the next few months that I personally love. So I thought what the hell, let's see how these things are.

I think I got my answer at Round 3 of our series.

Pardon my dweeb-ness in the video, I made sure to be about 3 beers in to make the video less cheesy.

I've owned WedsSports, Rota's, XXR's, and now Cosmis and of those four the only wheels I've truly been satisfied with were the WedsSports (which goes without saying) and the Cosmis wheels. Both were packaged very, very well, and both companies were awesome to work with.

Anyway, as you saw I got smacked right on the wheel at Round 3 and the wheel came out completely fine. It's scuffed up for sure, but after looking at it I ended up driving on that same wheel up until Qualifying practice began. These things truly amaze me.

Anyway, here are some pictures of the MRII's that I got and what some more detailed pictures of the results of the crash at Round 3.

The wheels are packaged really well. The only difference from their packaging and WedsSports was four small pieces of cardboard that are kind of slotted into eachother to create a triangle that fills in the corner gaps in the box. Do they really do anything? Probably not, but it's more cardboard so you sit there and go "Omg! Dese weels r so speshal dat dey cant evn move!" and law-dee-daw. I mentioned this in my initial Facebook post when I got the wheels and posted these pictures on Facebook, and the head of packaging ended up messaging me and asking if I had any suggestions for the packaging. Personally I think it's pretty cool that they're so eager to improve every aspect of their packaging. The little things.

I got 18x9.5 +15, and once I got tires on and slapped them on the car with my 15mm spacers they fit pretty damn rad. I've recently moved up to 265/35/18 tires in the back for competition so I had to roll the fenders slightly, but other than that they fit perfect.

Forgive the lack of axle, had to replace mine the day before the event haha. But you get the idea.

The wheels look awesome on the car, and they're actually very light. When they were in their packaging and the boxes in stacks of two, a stack of two boxes with the wheels in them were roughly the same weight as a 18x9.5 +20 Rota Grid with 245/40/18 tires on. I'm aware that Grids are RIDICULOUSLY heavy wheels, but I still found that rather impressive.

So anyway, post-hit:

Literally, they were fine. The toe was knocked out, so I just had to bang the quarter off of the tire and re-align the rear, and that was it. It started pouring with rain after so I flipped the wheels (I run my federals backwards in the dry depending on the surface, forwards in the rain) and kept going. Ended up getting tapped by my friend Aaron on the other side, so just to prove that I kept using the same wheel:

There it is on the other side.

So, I think they passed the durability test pretty damn well. After everyone in the competitive drift scene here in Texas saw how they reacted with the hit on my car I know of at least 4 other drivers that have already sold all of their wheels and got some Cosmis wheels.

I wanted to post this to give people insight on another option for well priced, properly made wheels. There has been a lot of really negative stigma towards more inexpensive wheels, and having owned XXR's, Rota's and WedsSports I have to say these things are definitely worth while wheels. There have been plenty of "I didn't spend a lot on wheels and now they're broken and my girlfriends pee'd on my face" threads around the internet, so might as well break that curse for once. I don't really want my girlfriend to pee on my face.

Anybody else running Cosmis Wheels and having a positive experience?

Cool story. I'd buy them. My only gripe is the "BY KIKI." Sounds like a little stuffed monkey made the wheels:

Agreed, I don't understand the whole By KiKi tag line. But whatever, I can live with it.

why would you go from a weds to a weds knockoff? I guess they sponsored you pretty good running that sticker on the car and for you to post this.

Default cosmis racing mr7 wheels

Anyone have these on their 350z and can tell me how they turned out? I've been looking everywhere and can't find a single z with them on. Pictures if you have them.

Those look good, like concave rpf1s. Just don't like the "kikidesign."

+1 on whether or not they fit over OEM Brembos. Are you running spacers with your set up?

I think the wheels are 21lbs, never weighed them before mounting.
I do not have the OEM Brembos so I am not sure if they would fit over them or not.
I am running 10mm spacers all around with Extended wheel studs.

Specs without spacers: 18x9.5 +10, 18x11 +8
Tires: 255/40/18, 225/40/18
