PC'ing my volks over winter
My GTF's are pretty beat up by the previous owner. I'm going to look into having them repaired and then pc'd.
Polished lip and pc'd face? (i'd have to strip the anodized coating) OR Have the lips repaired and PC the wheels in their entirety? (this is what I'm leaning towards although I haven't seen it done) Car is chrome silver - considering pc'ing them gunmetal, hyper black, or dark gold. Thanks! |
I'd Just repolish them. While PC'ing is very common i'm not sure it is the best for forged wheels.

I was concerned about that a little while back...but some folks here reassured me that it shouldn't be an issue. I'm not entirely sure about it though.

Make sure to use someone who knows what they are doing and ask they what temps they will be using, otherwise your fate could be as below.

I have never seen a set of GT-F's without the lip polished, I think it would look good all one color for sure
Don't worry about the PC'ing process damaging your forged wheels, I have never seen it crack a non-oem forged wheel. I have discussed this with an engineer friend who specializes in metallurgy and he confirmed that the temperature doesn't get hot enough for it to affect it For me personally I like the look of a painted wheel rather than a PC'd wheel and I don't want to subject my wheel to the heat of PC'ing even if everyone says it's cool. 5+ years and my wheels are still perfect so don't listen to those that say PC'ing is more durable than paint. More than anything it's how you take care of your wheels that determines how long the finish will last Shameless plug of my babies Painted 9/8/08 and this was taken in September of this year http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-6f-J9U79fI...0/IMG_3572.JPG |
I love those exactly as they are seen there!
