they are set at 35psi all around right now. How many psi should they be?

35 cold is just fine.

Are you using your car just for street driving?

I like 34-36 psi

Look on your door jamb or owner's manual for correct inflation pressures.

However, running a little over is OK up to max inflation per the tire mfgr. and marked on sidewall.

Deviating thoughts: I run 38-36 just out of habit on my '03 on Track 18s, stock sizes. The theory on pressure stagger is as old as the hills but running lower pressure on RWD vehicles is *generally* used to induce oversteer by allowing the rears to reach max slip angle first.

BUT, all said and done, I have the chassis tuned and car runs a staggered tire/wheel sizing anyways so I don't really feel a lot of difference with 2# stagger in my Z33s nor Z34 and sometimes when I'm lazy to haul out the compressor, I'll just lower the fronts to match the rears as long as they stay above the minimums then air up before I head out for the hills.

On my Niz, I run stock inflation rates because it works.

Were I to track any of the cars, I'd be looking at probably 40psi all around.

^^ The short answer is 35 psi. As Mic mentions, you can change drive and handling by altering psi in your tires; and do this depending upon how you use the car (track, street, etc.).

I’m looking for comfort, so I run Continental Extreme All Season DWA tires at 35 psi. I’m staggered at 245/40-18’ and 275/40-18”. If I increase psi slightly (4 psi), I get noticeable better handling (i.e., less understeer), but I lose ride comfort.

Ummm, Trav, just WHAT are you trying to tell us? Is that your imitation of running underinflated tires rolling over onto the sidewalls in your 'Vette? :icon39:

There's a white sticker on the drivers door sill that says how much to inflates tires on the z For normal use. Now if you're autocross that's a different story.

but at the same time, my tires are about 2k for a full set. however i don't think i am going to get run flats next time, might actually get some here soon and put my current tires in storage

I hate "run-flats."

they are expensive and have worse performance.... but at the same time i don't have a spare.... risk i am willing to take, but need to add towing to my insurance before i ditch them

Yeah, not sure which I hate more.... the thought of wearing a gimpy space saver rubber band tire or.... the insecurity of NOT being able to even change a run-flat should I shred one somehow.

But I'm covered.... when it rains, it pours. I regularly scour the ads for Z stuff.... usually zilch. Then this week, two sets of new (to me) wheels in the garage. Laff....

OE pressure would be fine as a starting point. Shouldn't drop below the oe pressure as the tires need at least that to support the cars weight properly. Also don't exceed the max psi mentioned on the tires sidewall. Anything in-between the oe recc by Nissan and the tires max is fine. Play with it in 3-5 lb increases until you get the handling/feel you're looking for. Cold psi setting btw.
