Enkei raijin tire size help
 

So i bought a set of raijins 18x8.5 for the front and 18x10.5 for the rear. After doing research on tire sizes i came to the conclusion i want 245/40/18 and 285/40/18 for the front and rears. Then i realized i have to worry about vdc and now im not too sure if that setup would work. Im looking for a slight stretch on the tires. I like the way the stock tires (225/45/18) fit on the stock front rims.

Funny you ask about stretch-
Last Summer I went to a drift comp, nice 240 built-up went into turn #2 and wrapped his stretched rear tire around the axle.

It took 20 minutes for the tow truck to drag his ass off the track.

You dont happen to have any pictures of that setup do you? Ive been digging for pictures/opinions and ive found a lot of pages saying 275 is wayy too stretched for a 10 5 rim. But cant seem to find pictures of it

A 275 is close to 1:1 wheel width to tread width. (266mm wheel to 275mm tire). It's fine.

Keep in mind the range of tire width to wheel for best performance. 90% to 120%. Outside of this range, performance (lateral grip, steering response, etc. tends to fall off.) You can physically mount tires outside of this range, sure, (like truck and standard passenger tires are most often) but when talking about performance applications, best keep this in mind.

275/35-19 on 19x10.5 (never mind the wheel diameter, it's width we're talking about here and width is width.)

Pics? I run 255/40 and 275/40 on 8.5" and 10.5" and I do not run the wheel brand you specifically asked about (I've posted my setup prior and others have posted a boat-load of pics here).

You requested a "little stretch." A 275/40-18 on a 10.5", is exactly that. Additionally, its an excellent spec for a 10.5" period. So is a 285 (caveat...each brand/tire type/rim set has its own uniqueness...not all provide the same characteristics/aesthetics/performance regardless of what is on the sidewall).

A 275 on 10.5 "wayy too stretched?" Not even close to an accurate assessment and I'd disregard as input.

I wouldn't hesitate to run either a 245/40 or 255/40 up-front paired with a 275 or 285 out back on those widths. If your suspension, fenders, or wheel wells are highly modified or if you have exaggerated offsets then all bets are off.

That was on corvette mustang and m3 forums. Weird that they were all talking about 10.5 rims though.

Thank you guys for the pictures and help. I bit the bullet and ordered some continental extremecontact sports. 245/40/18 and 275/40/18. Ill post pictures once everythings mounted and done.

Im also lowering the car 1.2in all around. The rears sit flush with the fender. You think im gonna have problems rubbing? The rear fenders arent rolled yet

I'm betting +35 up front (smallest offset available on 18x8.5 Raijins) and +25 in back (only offset available on 10.5.) :rolleyes:

If that's the case, +35 is a tad high, might want to run a 15-20mm spacer in front to pull the wheel out a bit; and if +25, should fit, no rub (for sure stock height and most likely OK at -1.2").

And I'm betting Eibach Prokit springs...

Oh, Jared, don't forget to order hub rings if the wheels don't come with them. You'll need 72.6 - 66.1mm rings.

Yup...saw that on the spec sheet (unless Enkie has something out there off-list - doubtful). Would rather see the OP choose a different wheel-set to pair with that rubber. Silver lining, maybe no rub with that +25 but...still don't like it. Spacer up-front...not my thing but not my car.

Id like to get these wheels for my 2005 track 350z, would 9.5 fronts and 10.5 rear clear my brembos? Or ig a better question is what offset should i get if i want flush fitment and NO spacers, i know its limited on what offsets they offer so what would my best option be?

I have these as winter wheels on my STI and they clear MY Brembos which are a problem. Just call the spot you plan to order from if you are worried about clearance issues.

The front 9.5s come either +15 or +35. Ideal case for Brembo clearance is around +20mm offset but +15 should work. While not ideal using spacers*, a +35 with 15mm spacer will work as well.

Rear 10.5s are +25 so will work fine.

* Note on spacers: I say this EVERY time I discuss them by way of disclaimer. They aren't ideal; best to get proper fit wheels - and I've been a believer of that for decades - but I found a source for spacers that didn't break the bank and are good quality so I tried them. I have been using them a lot to get the fit I want on about half of the two dozen sets of wheels I've run on my Zs. This includes OE Nissan (Rays forged) wheels from Nismo Z33, Z34 (high offset fronts), and my LMZ5 (Z34) superlights.

Not a single failure or problem in probably 40-50 hill runs (track use might differ). The mfgr/seller must think I'm nuts having purchased at least 20 pairs of spacers (I usually include the spacers when I sell a set of wheels to a Z owner.) But yeah, understand the reluctance to use them but they've worked well for me.
