Goodyear Eagle f1 Gs D3's
 

Has anyone used the Goodyear Eagle F1 Gs D3's if so do they grip well. I would appreciate feedback on other tires also thanks.

they grip pretty well...but not the best i would say.
there are other tires that have better traction.

I droved GSD3 before.

They have a slightly flexible sidewall, many people feel like they turn in slow. They do perform well straightline and in the rain. I think they are great for the price.

yes i totally agree....and it has pretty good traction in wet.
also because of the compounding....it has a more comfortable ride....but gives u that softer feel.

I use them and think they're great. I've been caught in a couple down pours with 'em, and no problems sticking to the road.

On dry pavement--I drive a twisty back road to work and these tires grip really well. I can't comment on other Ultra High Performance tires cause I haven't used 'em, but the Goodyears do me.

Thanks for the replies but what do you guys think would be the best for dry traction i dont really have to worry about rain too much here. I was wanting the Nitto 555R drag radials but the dont make the in the right size.

I have a week old set of gsd3.

My experience is that they are as grippy as factory re040 in dry, much better in wet. The softer compound does make the car feel woobly but that can be correct by putting 2 or 3 lb more of air press. in the rear tires, mine 37.5 lb. The are also pretty quiet

I have 11,000 miles on my GS-D3s and love them. Excellent in the wet. At the track, grippier than RE040 and much improved response and tire feedback. Very gradual breakaway at the limit.

F1 and Feathering
 

Can you guys comment on the feathering if any on the F1s?

I would like to get a set with a new set of nismo 18 wheels in a few months but was kind of wating for Nissan to fix the front end and then get them.

Will the different compound, and tread pattern help prevent the tire feathering or not?

I have these F1's on the rear, just burned through a set of S03's in 9k miles. They do have a softer sidewall compared to S03's but staright line grip they hook nice. I love how these tires break loose in the turns, they slowly give out, whereas with my S03's they didnt really give me that much feedback, I either had grip, or I was losing a$$. For the money they are great, and they are better than S03's in the rain imo. I cant wait to go to the track lower the pressure a little and launch the $hit out of my car, if they can hook up at 37 psi they will hook even better at 27 psi....anyways sorry for rambling on I love these tires, and they look great. Got mine from tirerack in 2 days

I am running this set-up on my 350.
Contrary to other replies, I find them excellent for daily "spirited" driving rain or shine. I live in the mountains and am on the mountain roads every weekend having a little fun. Plus I put them on a road course track a couple times a year.
They are very sticky tires. I am running 36lbs. all around and do not experience any sidewall rollover.
As far as price... they are rated equally to the Pilots but are $50.00 cheaper per tire.

Get your toe/camber fixed prior to putting on ANY new tires.

BrickydZ, this is not what you want to hear, but these tires WILL NOT prevent feathering. Sorry!:(

I will be there my friend! Needed to get my rear Eagles replaced due to a nail puncture this past week -- right in the shoulder where it is irrepairable!:(

i had BAD FEATHERING with the stockers

toykilla, you usually post good stuff but I don't get it on the tires.
Why would any tire be better than any other (for feathering) since it is an alaignment/camber issue with the wheel? Did you have camber issue corrected when you put the F 1s on?

Don't mean this to sound like a challange.........just looking for an explaination.

Is it okay to run these with stock fronts?

I have had Goodyear F1's on for about 4,000 miles. My stock Bridgestones lasted 13,000 miles and were wasted and significantly feathered. I experimented with 245-40-18 on the front and 245-45 18 on the rear of my touring 6MT. This added rubber to the front and maintained the required stagger. On the track, understeer improved but is stll there. Around town I like the feel of the Goodyears. They have a harder compound but have a softer feel when cornering. And yes, I already have signs of feathering even though the dealer performed the "fix":mad: If you go with the Goodyears get them from Tire Rack. Even with shipping and mounting they were $600 cheaper than the local Goodyear dealer price.
