Another Spec-V rumor: unveiling at NISMO Festival
http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/11/n...iling-at-nism/
Reports about the release and pricing of the Nissan GT-R Spec-V have been circulating for months and Nissan HQ has supposedly confirmed the rumors and targeted an on-sale date in Japan in late January or early February.
The GT-R Spec-V is expected to be packing another 100 hp through the use of a new exhaust, more boost and a retuned ECU. Carbon fiber will replace some of the body panels to reduce weight, while new wheels, upgraded brakes and suspension tweaks will round out the mods.
Rumors suggest that Nissan could release the Spec-V at the 12th annual NISMO Festival at Fuji Speedway in Japan later this month. Pricing could be up to 15,000,000 yen – 2,000,000 more than earlier predictions – or around $154,000, more than double the cost of a standard GT-R. If the Spec-V goes on sale in the U.S., expect pricing to be considerably lower.

Are they going to be taking out the back seats as well? I wonder how much lighter its gonna be and if they are even gonna try to fix the transmission problem. I mentioned in the transmission failure thread since they know (and probably have known) that the transmission blows, if they're gonna make it more durable or just un-breakable. There's even video of Keiichi Tsuchiya racing a R35 against a R34 and the trans blew on the 3 or 4 lap.
SO the GTR that I was talkin about is a modded one by MCR but still.. here it is..

The last I read as of a couple of weeks ago in Car and Driver I think it was is that the new SpecV (I thought they were always called Vspec?) was going to push 60 more hp to 540bhp and lightened by 300lbs along with suspension tune and was suppose to be a monster on the Ring in Germany. I'll see if I can find the article.

it will be for less than that in the US
it will go on sale in the us in as late as march or april (if not later)
it will have almost 100HP more than the current gt-r
(due to new exhaust, boost, and retuned ECU)
It will have ceramic brakes
it will have a stiffer suspension
some of its body parts will be carbon fiber composites
it will have a new spoiler
it will have new wheels
it will have 2 airducts in the front
it wont have backseats
it will have front bucket seats with a wet carbon fiber finish
it will have a wet carbon fiber interior finish
and, if all goes well, it will be ready for public appearance by early dec.
*back to topic: it will be for less than that in US
(about 35,000 more than the current models)
source ???
well, we got the GT-R in the Emirates for about $118,000
The one we have is the USDM one.
I gained the trust of the dude workin down at the dealership, u know buying a car off him and all, he showed me this supposed "confidential" price list of the RRP of the GT-Rs in the Emirates, on that same paper was a GT-R that was priced way much more than the other 3...
Yup u guessed it, it was the Spec-V RRP which was listed as about $147,000.
now, the US GT-R is for about $75,000 and the Emirates one is for $118,000
So if the Spec-V will be for $147,000 in the emirates, its only logical that it will be for much less in US
Peace...
