Default GT-R V-spec $160,000

http://www.spike.com/blog/2010-nissan-gt-r-v/71124

Nissan has just dropped the deets on the 2010 super duper edition of their beastly GT-R. The V-spec model, which is to be released just eight days into 2009, is expected to take back the throne as the King of the Nurburgring. But at a cost of more than DOUBLE what a regular GT-R will set you back, what exactly are you getting?

Well, first off, don't expect any more power, at least according to Nissan. Contrary to the rumored 520hp we'd all hoped for, the plan is to stick with the 478hp twin-turbo'd V6 from the regular GT-R, and instead focus on weight and suspension tweaks.

At over 3,800 pounds, the GT-R is portly by supercar standards. To address this, Nissan is ditching the back seats in favor of a carbon fiber shelf, and healthy use of the material in areas like body trim and interior bits has also been revealed. Exact weight figures haven't been released yet, but anything that helps in the power-to-weight ratio department is always good.

The ECU will also recieve an "overboost" tweak, giving the motor more power in midrange revs situations like passing. And I don't mean on the freeway.

All of this is good news, but then we heard the price: $160,000. At more than TWICE what a normal GT-R costs, this is a bit out of hand. It's hard to imagine that a reputable tuner company couldn't take a regular GT-R and make it as fast, or faster, than this V-spec model for a lot cheaper. Guess we'll have to see what kind of numbers the new model makes at the track to see if it's all really worth it.

Wow, all that buildup and talk of "wait until the V-spec comes out" for this? GTR V-spec most over hyped car ever. I can see it now "wait t'll the LM comes out" will be the new GTR fanboy words to live by.

I am on the waiting list for one, I am still looking to buy one even though the price is high. But they do claim that it will be the "King of Nurburgring".... thats worth 160k.

Said it in the other thread and I'll say it again.

Nissan is F****** stupid for doing this.

Who the hell will pay that much for a Nissan that isn't that much better than the regular GT-R?

Why do people post this stuff when nothing is confirmed?

Until Nissan releases the car to a magazine and it is all ready to go and they have a mule and pricing ready this is all stipulation...

I HIGHLY doubt they will double the cost for the V-spec.
I would bet though $110,000

Do you have more reliable information to go by as compared to Jalopnik's?

It's going to be a huge letdown, Dil....just get the regular one and mod it a little bit.

Seriously, an exhaust, Cobb Access Port, and some suspension and tires...you'll be laping Road Atlanta in the low 1:30's.

You will run circles around the VSpec

Only good thing about the v-spec is that there won't be any back seats. when I saw the 20k+ Nismo exhaust, any price is possible. A bit off topic, but the Amuse kit for the e92 M3 is 30K. I think maybe the car companies are feeling the heat of the economy and in need of gouging the customers in order to survive?
