Default Remote Starter for A Manual??? Does it work/is it worth it?

I got a 03 track, and it has the same thing as every manual ive ever driven...compress the clutch fully then turn the key to start it.

Some of my buddies have a "Clutch Free" start button, do I have to install one of those before I install the auto start? or will it just start the car regardless of the clutch. I honestly don't know much about tech ****, all I know is engines baby , im not retarded when it comes to computing and electronics but I figured Id ask before I spent the cash.

This may be a "noob" question but can i get a remote start for my car?
or are they only for automatics...yall know what your talking about, jw if I should waste the money or not...

another thing...anyone wanna sell lambo doors for the 03z? or know where to get them for a cheaper price without sacing quality?

last thing I have a sound system in my trunk and I want to get an automatic trunk opener...I can build one myself...or just buy a kit, but I noticed with my Z somtimes pushing the button only pops the trunk up and I have to push and pull up at the same time to actually get it to open, any advice or links for a solution/kit?

Thanks yall.

First of all, since the remote start wouldn't be a performance mod, you can't fairly ask if its worth it. Since it merely a personal preference you can't quantify it. No reputable shop will install a remote start into a manual, its a liability because at some point you are going to start your car in gear and wreck something. With the proper settings on your remote start system you can prevent this, but they STILL will NOT do it. Basically what you want to do to your car is disable your clutch interlock. That is the part the checks to make sure the clutch is fully depressed. It is actually a good idea to disable your clutch interlock anyway as when you start your car with the clutch in you put a lot of pressure on your thrust bearing with no oil pressure to protect it. I don't personally know anything about the one on the 350Z but some of them have one wire, which just grounds when the cluctch is depressed, some complete a circuit by having two wires. In either case you can wire a switch before the interlock and make it switchable (good idea if you let others drive your car), or you can just permanently override it. There are some people who make caps that fit over the interlock button and hold it down, but as I said there are many ways.

It is unlikely that you will get something for nothing in the way of vertical doors (lambo doors), that is to say, don't cheep out, if someone is selling doors kits used that means they didn't like them. You will find lots of people on this forum that will get on you for posting things about vertical doors, etc, as they are 'rice' to some. I can't say anything abou your trunk all the Zs I've seen the trunk(which is actually a hatch) unlatches just fine, you would still need a motor either way. Overall, the question is why ?

Good luck.

Also, and this is no judgment at all, but how old are you?

As long as the stock PNP switch is tapped in to then a remote start on a manual Z isn't any more unsafe then a remote start on an auto tranny. The PNP (Park/Neutral Position) switch outputs a (-) signal only when the tranny is in N. Once the the tranny is placed in any gear the signal is lost.

The PNP switch is physically located inside the tranny, and the wires run to the ECU, where you can tap them.

Exactly what Kpierson said. His posts are what led me to install a remote start alarm in my car without a problem. I've had one in my Z without problem for about a year. As long as you tap the Neutral Safety Switch wire in the Ecu, you'll be fine. Problem is, a bunch of shops won't do that for you, due to liability issues. I suggest you find a shop that will agree to do the install, leaving the connection to the ecu for you or a buddy to do. I could do the install for ya, if you are ever in the NYC area. Good luck.

The problem is most installers don't know about the PNP switch, that is why they won't do it. If you can show them in the service manual the information most of them would be willing to do it. Most cars don't have NSS (PNP) switches, and the information isn't listed in the Alarm wiring info.

I believe compustar has a safety feature that won't auto-start the car, when it's in gear.

ive done it before on a Z and its wasnt hard at all. if u were in jersey i would say just come to my shop and ill do it no problem. some shops wont do it cause its a liabilty issue like everyone else said. however when its 20 degrees outside and u start the car from inside ur house, then its worth every penny.

remote starts are for 80 year olds, get yo lazy 17 year old *** out and start the car like everybody else, save your money for some 'performance' mods.

I have it on my AT z and it's the best thing evar. you can start it from 1 miles away (it's around 1/4 mile in actuality). I can start my car inside a building with obstructions and your key-remote thingy will go off, if somebody breaks in to the car.
