Just put these coilovers on my Track Z yesterday. I apologize for the huge pics...


After about a 2hr installation process, which wasn't bad just had a semi stripped bolt - which was easily fixed and this was my first time underneath the Z as I've only owned it for a month and a half. As of now the front is too low but the back is perfect. I'm riding on 7 (front and rear) right now because I dont know which way is stiff and which is soft since the instructions were in Japanese. I may need a translator. The ride is actually a lot more comfy than stock. You can tell it rides a lot smoother than factory.

Performance factor - can't tell too much right now but tested it on some turns and the car feels like its glued to the road. The car feels like it gained some play in the steering. It feels a little loose, this could be because its too low right now. Some pics...

I will post up the pics of the car later on this afternoon, after I raise the front up. I'm going to play with the settings and do some trial and error testing to find out which way I want them set up. I'll let everyone know how it rides after that. I plan on getting Hotchkis sways next. I definately like how I can make the car ride like a caddy. The only annoying thing is the ABS line, I took mike2016's idea and zip tied them to the struts because there is no where to mount them on the coilovers.

Does anyone know how I can access the damper adjuster on the top without having to take out the whole assembly? I'd imagine there is but I dont want to break/cut anything on the interior. I havent searched for an answer yet but I figured I'd just ask while I post the review.

 

Very nice. Please do give us impressions and a review after you've had time to ride on these and experiment. You going to track the Z at all? I would really love to hear someones review of these coils after a track day.

 

I'm tryin to get into autox but I don't have the time to go to most of the events. There is one coming up that my old rsx buddies want me to go to so I think I might try it out. I need to get the setup cornerweighed in the near future. Does anyone know which camber/toe adjustable parts I should go with?

You dont need them because you're replacing the whole assembly. On rear I just let the spring push the hub/rotor down and then unbolted it.

I've been riding 7 around and I think its smooth as hell on the interstate. I raised the back up a little more and need to test out different settings.

 

for the rear damper, if the adjuster **** is on the top then u need to drill two 3/8 holes on your stock struct bar (in the trunk) in order to gain access to it.

 

Ahh, thanks for the info. I doubt I'll be doin some drilling though. I'll just pull them apart when the time comes because the rear suspension is easy.

 

Well, I turned up the damper rate last night to 13 up front and 11 out back. The car rides pretty close to what it did before but it feels a little bit more stable/solid. You can tell I changed the rate but its not a dramatic change. I like how it rides so I'll probably keep it at these settings. Handling feels better the car seems quicker to respond, could be just my imagination.

No noise at all, now I'm at 13/11 (f/r). You're right on the interstate its a pretty stiff.

Isnt the rear dampers are always two clicks higher than the fronts?
Ex. setting of 7f/9r clicks from tight.

 

Hmm, not sure... I'm just testing it out trial and error. Next time I'm underneath the hood I'll just drop the front to 9 and keep the rears at 11.

 

u asked about alignement parts. Being that you can replace the rear lower control arms that use to hold the spring, I would order up some battle version bars for camber and toe in the rear. As far as front alignment there lots of options it all comes down to how much cheese you want to throw around. That's great the car rides like a cady but, does it have roll like a cady?

 

Not at all, the car responds awesome and handles like a dream. Body roll is greatly reduced....

Can these buddy clubs be set to stock Z height? Can you list the range of height travel front and back if it's documented?
