How many Z owner's are tempted to sale and wait for the 2006 C6 Vette

I'm seriously thinking about it, I know this topic has been discussed but I've actually had two friends sale their Z's to save money to buy the 2006 C06 Vette. I'm just wondering how many people are tempted to do so??

z-extreme Jan 20, 2005 05:20 PM

Dude my father just bought an 05. He was going to wait for the C6 but wanted the Targa tops and a working rear hatch. The Vette hauls *** as it is. The C6 would be insane.

tylerdurden Jan 20, 2005 05:42 PM

Crossed my mind. There is a price consideration though. The Vette is a good deal but a bit more than the Z. I even looked at the left over Z06's.

I wouldnt pay 75gs for a GM.

jdm3fiddyZ Jan 20, 2005 06:28 PM

i raced a C6 on the highway the other day, kinda fun.....took him by about 3 cars.....personally i like the Z. But i do like the new look of the C6....

ThisZs4Me Jan 20, 2005 06:48 PM

Not me. Just sold a C5 to get a Z. The C5 was a lot of fun and full of power -- but the list of things that were intermittently wrong with it was very long. I would be afraid that the C6 would have a similarly long list, especially being the first year for the model.

In my opinion, power isn't everything. The Z handles better, shifts better, and so far is more reliable. And you know, you just don't get a chance to use all that power very often anyway! So, I'd pick the car that is the most fun every day -- and getting the Vette fixed all the time seriously detracts from the fun.

Z04 Jan 20, 2005 07:00 PM

i will stick with the Z

Q_350Z_USAF Jan 20, 2005 07:06 PM

C'mon guy's

I'm sure they've gotten the bug's worked out. Now we know each car/manufacturer has it's issue's.

i met a guy at Texas Steakhouse tonight that sold his Z for a C6 Vette....he was weird. had braces and ****...wanted to know if i wanted to buy his old Z license plate frame. when i asked him how he liked his C6...he gave me this psycho path killer smile with his blinging braces and said "ohhhh man"

Long Beach Jim Jan 20, 2005 08:48 PM

Reliability is more important to me than anything else. Consumer Reports and JD Powers give the Vette horrible reliability ratings. I love the 2005 C6 convertible styling...they really got it right this time. Perhaps I will buy an old one as a knock-around-car some day.

FairladyZ Jan 21, 2005 04:54 AM

cant afford it.

I plan on keeping my car a while and with that an American sports car is not an ideal candidate for me. The squeaking and just the wear and tear on American cars seem to be excessive. They don't seem to age gracefully like imports do. Nice looking though..

Yep, as I have said before. Never liked Corvettes, and increasing the price and horsepower isn't making me like them any more.

JonsilvZ Jan 21, 2005 10:01 AM

The C5 first came out in 98. Even right now they still have average reliability. What a POS! C6 first yr already have a recall-brake fluid leak. Well there is going to be a long list of problems. Powertrain warranty only 3-36k? For a $50k car they could do better then that!

The new Vette is a nice car, and performance wise it may be able to hang with the mentioned cars, but if you could pick one of these cars if you won it, the last one would be the vette.
The Vette compared to the Bentley or a Ferrari? C`mon :D

Like with the Z, The vette`s main appeal is the "Bang for the buck" With maybe the exception of the Viper, the vette is not in the same league as those other cars.

Q_350Z_USAF Jan 21, 2005 11:45 AM

In terms of comparison...

Whoaaaaa.....When I wrote down in the same company as the other top of the line cars. I meant in terms of horsepower, In no way would a vette of anykind match a Bently or these other car's in terms of quality or manufacturing. I'm sure we all know the quality of the other vehicles stated and why they have the price tag's they do and rightfully so.

theguykevin Jan 21, 2005 11:56 AM

Z all the way :D
american cars are out of my consideration
i just dont like them(biased); even though american car companies affect lot of cars around the world;

I think alot of Viper owners will be switching to the new vette since a lot of viper owners are former corvette owners that were sick of waiting for them to come out with something like the new Z06.

As far as going from Z to a new vette... the base msrp is 2x what I paid for my used Z so not too much temptation there.

dduck44 Jan 21, 2005 12:07 PM

I am going to buy the second year Z06, I'll keep the Z though.
