Almost messed up the Z last night.

So I take off from the gym to get some groceries real quick and it was snowing fairly well out. I'm going about 30 mph in a 35 on a road that is not plowed too well, though the snow isn't considered 'deep'.. just thick slush. Well.. I'm barely even pressing the gas just coasting along when all of a sudden the back end just breaks out on me to the right and I lose control of the car. I guess I must have hit an icy patch, or my tires got really saturated with slush or something.. Anyway, thank god I dont' drive next to anyone in such conditions.. cause by the time I corrected the car I was already in the right lane and it would not have been pretty...

Just thought I'd share. That sucked... but you live and learn. Still getting used to this whole RWD thing.

Oh btw. Hello to everyone. I"ve been a member for a while but just haven't posted.

If you don't get some Blizzak winter tires from Bridgestone, you might as well park the Z for the winter. The problem is that the stock "all season" tires are terrible when it gets cold and the tread depth is not deep enough to get you traction. The blizzaks will actually grip on Ice. I couldn't get up my driveway with 1/2" of snow/slush on the driveway. With the blizzak's i got up the drive in no problem with 5" of snow. See the pics I took on this thread https://my350z.com/forum/2003-2009-nissan-350z/12629-pics-of-all-wheel-drive-z.html

With the TCS on it is almost impossible to throw the back end out. The only thing you have to worry about is just letting off the gas as when you "brake" with the engine or downshift you could kick the rear end out. I always try to slow in really icy conditions with the ABS Brakes only.

the stocks are summer tires, not all seasons, and that's why they suck ass in the snow

Damn, be careful man. I'd take that advice and get some Blizzaks. What's this "snow" stuff anyway?

Yeah, I gotta get some snow tires for sure. I just didn't imagine that it could be so bad! Really freaked me out.

VQracer: Thank you man. Actually, that is a REAL photo taken of me racing in my car by my friend in his car. It was on a fun night out in Baltimore. So no photoshoping needed! heh heh.

I'm glad it almost never snows in my area.
