If this was really a problem for any of us, we'd all be driving Priuses.

I wouldn't sell the Z even if gas prices reached $4 / gallon. If it reached $5, I would probably take the bus every other day :D

Remember that gas in the USA is still the cheapest gas worldwide.

Actually, the good people of Venezuela are paying 50 cents a gallon but they are using their own oil.

I just got back from 2 weeks in Scotland. We have nothing to complain about on gas prices. The cost was 90 pence per liter at the current exchange rate of $1.90 per pound that comes out to $1.71 per liter or 6.47 per gallon. I had a Toyota Avensis, 5MT and 2 Liter engine and averaged 40 MPG and it still cost 65 pounds to fill up the tank.

gas mileage gauge/meter kinda tricky so i used to measure my gas consumption by refueling as soon as gas warning light goes off and it will take 15- 16 gallons to fill up- gauge needle pointing above the highest line, then measure my mileage until the gas warning light came off again, so far i got 375 miles a combination of highway and city drive, no aggressive driving with it.

I used to have a connection where I could buy gasoline at about $1/gallon, but it is crappy gas and it's just not worth the risk (first of all, there is risk of getting found out, second, it is horrid quality gas and they can only get 87 octane).

Point being... I'd rather pay for Chevron's quality than get Venezuelan brand :D

pyindeem 07-11-2005 08:25 PM

17mpg / $40.00 fill up today here in Houston,TX.

I get about 21.5 mpg, mostly freeway miles and some spirited driving.

How often do you fill up gas and how much does it cost?

In the metro area with a billion lights and stop signs it still gets 20.1mpg. On highway trips its closer to 27mpg. 6spd manual 2004. Its about $38 for 17 or so gallons if i let it get really empty. Premium fuel only...that means 91 octane... or in Houston.. there is no 91.. just 93 followed by 89 followed by 87. Damn whatever happened to having 103 octane gas at the pump.

gdirty5 07-12-2005 06:35 AM

I used to own a 04 G35 coupe and that thing took gas. Even if i drove normal, i could still see the gas drop. I would put about $30+ on full tanks and then i stopped putting full tanks.

My cousin who owned a Z said he put about 35-40 bucks every 3 days

People outside of TX kill me when they talk about distances. I guess there is no space left in the USA except for TX. I wish I could find a job within 12 miles of my house. I guess I could but I would have to work at a grocery store, book store, or Home Depot. My buddies and I will jut pick up on a whim and drive to Austin to go to a club or something, 175 miles one way.

need Z 07-12-2005 06:43 AM

Stock Z

City: 18-25 mpg - depending on driving habits
Highway: 27-32 mpg - Let me tell you, driving 600+ miles on one tank made my day!

There's aplace on Hwy6 close to I-10 called Bumbera's where you can get race fuel. I think they have up to 110 octane. They have three grades of fuel I believe. Remember the first time you foud out race gas was blue. That was fun.

Qbrozen 07-12-2005 09:25 AM

i average close to 25mpg. about 70% highway.

for those saying not to worry about gas mileage, I have to disagree. So what if its a sportscar? That's not the point. Yeah, of course it shouldn't be a MAIN concern, but I certainly put it in as A concern. I mean, if you are stuck deciding between 2 cars that, in your mind, stack up equally in all areas ... but one gets better mileage than the other .... what are you going to do? Still flip a coin because you just don't care one iota about how much gas you put in? And, hell, if the argument is "you shouldn't care because its a sportscar," then you could also say "it doesn't matter because its a luxury car" or "it doesn't matter because its an SUV" or whatever else you want to insert in that blank. And I can tell you that when we were shopping for my wife's SUV, gas mileage was a VERY important consideration for me. Again, it wasn't the first or even second concern... but there is no way I can say "i just don't care about the mileage."

Did I expect 25 mpg in the Z? Hell no! Am I happy the mileage is that good? Hell yes!

kpiskin 07-12-2005 09:59 AM

I get 20-21 MPG in mixed driving (don't do straight city driving) and get around 28.5 MPG @ 75 MPH, I have a 5AT.

gsazabi 07-12-2005 12:55 PM

Average: 20-23 MPG
The way i've been driving the past week: 10MPG lol

I don't care how much the gas costs, as long as it's Mobile or Chevron.

Heck, I used to put 91 octane on my 03 Altima 4 banger,
and don't ask me why cuz I don't know why myself LOL
