Parking - c'mon, SUV, give me a break!

yeah, I had to hork up a big slippery goober for an SUV this morning too. I went out to the motorcycle dealership and parked my Z where I wasn't next to anyone. When I came out there was an SUV parked next to me and very crooked too even though there were 10 other spots open on the other side of him. I gave him a big greenie right on his driver window....I hope he gets the point.....it's better than the keying he deserved.

I'll be damned. Just about to rant about how I discovered a dent on my door today. Its about 4 inches long right smack in the middle of my driver door. Its not that noticeable but its bugging the $hit outta me. And whoever was getting out of the other car must of been one big m*****fu**er! OK I'm done. Thanks!
Man that sucks! But consider yourself lucky. I came out to find a horrific ding right on the crease of my rear pass. side wheel well. It looks like someone took a hatchet and hammered my car with it!

hehe, thats funny
Could have seen your car from a distance and wanted a closer look....Then decides he wants to get out of his truck to look it over. So he parks, takes his time gawking; and now he doesn't feel like craking up and moving so he says screw it

haahah i Do that ... if you think of it my way, people that cant park might hit your car, while parking so i would take my chances and park next to them rather have a small ding then some big scratch on the side of my car.
Take it easy on us SUV owners... it happens to us too! One time after a FX meet a bunch of us went to a store called SuperAutobacs, a big auto parts store here in LA. We all parked at one side of the lot with lots of open spaces. When we came out there was this POS Subie WRX parked in the middle of our 6 FXes.
There are always 2 sides to every story. Here what I think that SUV did, he/she probaly parked there, to avoid being parked alone. If parked alone, they would have more attention and possibly get criminized. And possibly, the SUV driver wants to check out your car. They want to check out your car without looking like an idiot. Most important thing, you didn't get a dent.
You should've left a note asking him/her not to park so close when the entire parking lot is available. Maybe they don't realize our anger. I always like to park next to an island and butt up against the island as close as I can. That way if anyone parks next to me there is still a big gap between us since I'm over so far within my own space. But watch out for abrasive branches or large rocks on the landscaped island when opening the door.
Yeah, I work all the angles when parking. I park far away, if possible. I park in diagonal lanes versus parallel lanes. I park on the endcaps of parking lots (except when under trees). I park alongside curbs rather than lots, if safe. I've been known to park, sit there for a moment, and repark somewhere else. Ok, I admit it, I'm **** about parking. But then again I have 17K miles and no door dings so it's worth it to me. Along the same lines, I treat other cars who park next to me with the same respect I show my Z.
In this particular case, I think the SUV saw my freshly-washed Z sitting there all alone and just decided to be a jerk. This is a high tourist area and that SUV may have been a rental. Even if I'm wrong, he was inconsiderate at best. It was obvious I was trying to avoid having cars around me. Aargh, the nerve of some people...

yeah i hate it when that happens. sometimes i leave a few spaces around
my car when parking and it never fails that people avoid the other spaces
and park right next to my car. i also hate it when people park so close to
you that you can't get in without spreading your butt cheeks apart after
opening the door.

I have had a few near misses involving F-250 or F-150 pickups. I think they look out their rear view mirrors and can't even see us ! Ever since I got my Z large pickups and SUV's have become almost the enemy.
This happens in other situations too. I commute to school using an express bus and generally people take up one seat until there's one person to a seat... but you seldom see any one seat filled with 2 people if there are other available seats. Etc, etc.
