do you have a gf? if not go for looks!:D if u got a chick already i say jus go for the sc

faster than u 01-09-2006 07:44 PM

damn dude that wasnt the answer, i dont have a gf but i get my share of girls so thats not an issue , i just want to be fast but i also want to look sick.
the stillen isnt all that either but it will get me movin a little bit

zland 01-09-2006 07:46 PM

It all depends if you want to be "faster than you" or better looking than you".

Have you ridden in or driven a 350Z with a SC on it? I would suggest you do so prior to buying one. I always strongly recommend consumers test and compare.

I will say this, all SC or TT 350Z's I have driven will give you a rush.

faster than u 01-09-2006 07:57 PM

well im on the bottle but im tired of it. i feel like im hurting my baby . plus i want power that is always there insted of having to refill it.

faster than u 01-09-2006 07:58 PM

have you ever been in a stillen sc 350z befor? is it a rush?

If it is an SC that you want I would recommend the procharger over the stillen. It requires less modifications to the car and performs much better. It is also said but I am not sure if it is proven that the procharger is the safest bolton SC that you can get for a production vehicle. Their R&D is very good and the quality of their products is also very good...

Remember that if you get the stillen you will need a new strut brace and hood as well…

Yugo 01-09-2006 10:17 PM

I suggest you go for some wider wheels and a nice kit. Having a SC on your car will but a strain on other parts of the car and since money is an issue i would suggest going for the looks first.

Everybodywildou 01-09-2006 10:20 PM

I'm in the same boat you are man. I'm 19 and trying to figure that out too. I decided to go for looks and simple bolt ons right now. The Z is pretty quick already in my opinion. I mean how fast can you really go on the street? FI is pretty sick though. If I had the money to blow I'd love to have it. Get w/e you feel is more practical.

steakpinoy 01-09-2006 10:50 PM

You might want to wait for the JWT twin turbo kit. It's going under CARB certification and should be on the market really soon, if not already. The HKS supercharger was also CARB certified recently. I like the Stillen SC, but I'm not feelin the hood at all.

thezedsled 01-09-2006 10:56 PM

I would trust Procharger over HKS anyday when it comes to superchargers. Procharger pioneered the centrifugal type supercharger as we know it today...

Haha..who in the world told you that? The Procharger is probably the most unreliable supercharger out there for the Z. The 2 people I knew that had them both blew their engines. I suspect this is why thwy aren't very popular with the Z's despite putting down good numbers.

The HKS rotrex is probably the safest on the market but it costs a pretty penny and the quality is there as with any HKS product.

Vortech is the way to go....Stillen isn't worth it for the amount of power you get even if you do keep the warranty. There are plenty of Vortechs running around without issues..

To answer your question....get the rims first and save up for a turbo kit or a Vortech supercharger

faster than u 01-10-2006 11:14 AM

well i have to keep my warrentee or else i would get the aps tt. my parents are gay about that. i just want to be fast but it seems the only way is if i go with the stillen to keep my warrentee, but it doesnt produce much hp. damn this sucks. im probley going to get rims and the nismo kit. im never going to be fast )-:

FijiZRacer 01-10-2006 12:03 PM

^ He drives a Z and says he's never going to be fast.........

if you pay for the car why do they care?? i smell B/S

amsweigart@hotm 01-10-2006 12:41 PM

Keep the warranty and just get nice wheels. Save up for a motorcycle if you want to go fast :thumbup2:

Spooky 01-10-2006 12:42 PM

I say go with the wheels. Wheels and suspension are the foundations of any car project. You will appreciate those changes no matter where you drive or how you drive.

Chief F1 Fan 01-10-2006 12:44 PM

well, I gots the wheels, I now want the F/I (sc > tt for me I think)

plumpzz 01-10-2006 12:46 PM

I dont get why all 18 yr olds are like him! I'm not!! :-|

If you pay for ur car, its ur terms and ur conditions, if not, its their terms and their conditions. Besides, if ur getting FI do it right. Stillen is a bad excuse of an eaton supercharger. Small as chipmunk balls and overheats quickly.

Do more research, ask the RIGHT questions instead of guys..should i get this??

F/I is a nice kick in the pants for the VQ!!!

Zilvia 01-10-2006 01:14 PM

get the nismo kit and some killer wide ass wheels.

then youll drive the hell out of it till you rid the warranty(36k miles) then get a Turbo

so once you have the turbo youll already have traction

the Stillen isw only good with a Stage2 or Stage3........but i would ratehr have turbo any day than a s/c

LIdrew 01-10-2006 01:40 PM

wheels and wider tires first. No sense in FI if you can't get traction. That would be dangerous.

Phaneom 01-10-2006 01:47 PM

Thats right. Get the wheels and tires first. Also a better suspension. I have a Vortech SC @ 8psi and I have a hard enought time getting traction with my 285's I couldn't imagine what it would be like with stock tires.

faster than u 01-10-2006 06:51 PM

lol you guys are right, i do pay for the car i should be able to do what ever i want with it but they say if something happends big there going to have to pay for it cause i wont have the money. but i should go for the rims and kit first. i have plenty time to save for when my warrentee is up. 26000 more miles, true thanks for the advice guys!!!

Maybe your parents are not "gay" about the issue. Maybe it is called life experience. As a friend once said to me "a lot of things can happen with a car and teenager and most of them are not good". The fact that they allowed you to get a high performance sportscar shows me they are not over reacting and trying to be too conservative. Fact is, if you are under age and kill or hurt someone or their car, they are legally responsible for your actions. Adding more hp just increases the risk level. In addition, the chances of a FI - modified car without a warranty of having problems is greater than stock. It appears that if you did blow it up with a turbo they would be the ones having to put out money to have it rebuilt.

Maybe in 10-15 years your children will be fortunate enough to have you "be gay" about not letting them do things that they want to do but might not be the wisest choice.

Bottom line is you can always move out, rent your own place and get a Twin turbo and boost it to 30 lbs of boost if you like. My bet is you will get some rims and that is a good choice for now.

thReeFiFtee 01-10-2006 07:36 PM

^^ +1, and don't call your parents gay. Childish and foolish act.

faster than u 01-10-2006 07:49 PM

lol you guys are funny but right. thats exactly what they say. they say they might as well give me a gun to play with to.

*shrug* Judging by your responses and tone, I'd say they're probably right.

Get some rims. It's hard to hurt other people with shiny rims.

Hi faster than u, Im confused. Why does it matter to your parents that you void the warranty? You said your working your azz off and payed for it your self? my vote, I would say get the looks going first, suspension rims and tires. BEN

EDIT-Please disregard my post, lol, I just finished reading the rest of this thread. Gosh!!

You could spend the money on a gun and play with it while you drive the Z! They would love that! You could pick up random strangers and play russian roulette while you cruise around...

Ep3 01-10-2006 10:51 PM

werd with a semi auto:eek:

Pastapuck 01-10-2006 10:59 PM

Go with induction, if you don't plan on killing yourself.

ML2000 01-11-2006 06:14 AM

Go with the wheels first and then save up for the sc.

Alberto 01-11-2006 06:16 AM

Get rims and be happy. Get the Stillen S/C and get raped by bolt-on Z's properly driven.

PoWeRtRiP 01-11-2006 06:33 AM

those must be some expensive ass rims! stillen sc is what 4k? a nice set of 18/19" rims and tires can be had for under 2k. oh wait u want some jdm tyte volks or some crazy thing like that?

heres the best advice youll see in here. if u havent yet done this, pay your car off first. if u buy rims u just threw that money away, smae for the sc.
