Project Double Down: From Start to Finish...56k no way!
I just hate you...jk. envy is such an ugly thing
I love the it when guys like you push the limits of what can be done. big time props to you and VRT. some guys might ask why you would spend that much money on a Z when you could just buy a car more suited for the track stock. but its all about the love for the Z and wanting to see what she is capable of when given the right tools. good luck to you and I can't wait to see some video of the "chick with a d!ck" in action.

"Why oh why didn't you take the blue pill"..... J/k
Man your car can be such a street monster it's not even funny.... I know you are building this up for the track, but just imagine the entire body sprayed flat black paint that has a rubbery feel to it and I mean inside and out! And with TT and 315's in the back........ OMFG!!!

for example.. my cars wheels are:
Front: 9.5 wide by 19 inch. with a +19 offset
Rear: 10.5 wide by 19 inch. with a +29 offset
I'd love to be able to squeeze a bit more rubber underneath too!

Thanks guys!
Ok well, I am on my way out of town and wont be back to the boards until Monday. In the meantime here is some stuff to keep you busy. Links to find info on all of the parts I have used up to Chapter 3…
http://www.violentracing.com
http://www.momodesign.com
http://www.cppistons.com
http://www.pauter.com
http://www.jimwolftechnology.com
http://www.apracing.com
http://www.nittotire.com
http://www.jic-magic.com
http://www.kinetixracing.com
http://www.firebottleracing.com
Also, whoever wants to see the finished project I will be at the following events in February…
4th & 5th - Racer Factory HPDE @ Buttonwillow Raceway (www.racerfactory.com)
I will have the passenger seat in for this event for anyone who wants ride alongs. You must bring your own helmet. Also, the project will probably only be 80-90% done at this event.
25th – Performance Nissan Meet (www.mynismo.com)
The car should be 100% done by this event.
I just thought I would give everybody some time to see if they can make it to these events. I would love to see a good 350Z presence at the track event even though it’s Super Bowl weekend.
Oh and expect Chapter 4 to be posted early next week as well!

UPDATE ON WHAT HAPPENED OVER THE WEEKEND
Well this weekend the car started its final days at VRT in San Diego. They have been putting miles on the car making sure that everything works well. Friday and Saturday were taken slow while the new internals got broken in and everything else checked out ok. According to the guys at VRT it idles like stock, has no heat issues, and is really strong. They only ran it at about 7 lbs. of boost during the break in period as well.
Saturday night was its first real test drive. Scott at VRT put 350 miles on it that night! The car did awesome on long trips and had no heat issues or oil leaks. Then Scott took it to some high speeds and noticed that the back end of the car felt a little wierd. Back to VRT he went to check the suspension.
The suspension checked out fine and and then he figured it out. It was the rear tires. Earlier that day they had hand measured the rear tire width. Although the Nitto NT01s were 315s, they actually measured out to be 323s. On the 9.5" rim, the 323s crossed just over the line of stretching the tire on the rim. What was happening was, at high speeds the tire was growing taller, like drag slicks, because they were stretched so much trying to fit the 9.5" rim.
The tires did not rub at all, it was just the stretching problem. So, what we are doing is switching back to the 315/30/18 Michelin Pilot Sport Cups that I was originally going to put on the car. The good news with that is they come in a 285/30/18 which will replace the 275/35/18s I had on the front with the Nitto NT01s. So I lose a tiny bit of width in the rear, but gaining more in the front.
Check back in the next few days for Chapter 4 which will include some fun stuff!
