Who's got a base model?
Havin' a hard time finding a base model in my area, San Diego. Most dealers I've talked to said base models are rare. I may have to order one from the factory, but the dealer I talked to says it's difficult. How long would it take to get order one from the factory?

Ordered in Oct, still waiting..

I doubt if anyone did have one they'd confess....
good luck in your search. |
Blue....,
Have you looked thru the dealer inventories on the Nissan website? When tracking down my Brick I looked thru the inventory of 80% of the dealers in Cali. The dealer you talked to is somewhat correct; the Base is not plentiful. However, I did see 4 to 6 when I was searching. Find one on the net & call the sales manger at the dealership where you find one and see if you can make a deal. |
I have one on order, ordered Jan.7, build in February, delivery supposed to be March or beginning of April. I ordered it, because the dealers only seem to carry Touring or Tracks on the lots.
Good luck |
What's Nissan's web address?

Embaressed??? Are you nuts???? I got one, and im proud of it. I payed the least over invoice than all of the models. I got the engine, the suspension, and the styling, the things that really count for only 26,000 and change. Then i added xenons for 400, and perforated leather for 700...... Now, who should be embaressed for what they bought?!?!?!?  :icon6: :icon8:
POWER TO THE BASE MODEL!!!! GO FOR IT I SAY. Ill admit i like the enthusiast as well..... for the lsd, and traction control. But im fine with out it, its more "fluid" and "real", and less computerized. |
Proud Base Owner
I too think the base is the best deal. Anyone that pays $37k for a loaded track is only getting a heavily optioned base. In my book, it's not very smart to spend 50% of the base price on options for any car.
|
I agree, since most trackers shut off all the systems when in use anyway!!! Its not like other cars where it makes a big difference. Here the car is basiclly still the same.
|
I will soon own a base. I could spend the money for the track or touring but I have no need for the brembo's, there are plenty of 18"s floating around the classifieds and ebay, I want to add my own nav/dvd/stereo, and all that computerized stuff just isn't for me. oh yeah I just hate leather for some reason. I may add a lsd at a later time if I feel the need and xenons and drilled pedals will be about 450 installed. I wish this car was available when I paid 33k for a p.o.s Chrsler 300M in 2000. Dumbest car I ever bought.

for the most part you guys are right....
but where the base really lacks horribly is the rear end. once you've power slided and drifted a model with VLSD you realize how sweet it is. but for everyday city type driving and you don't care about traction, the base is the way to go. |
Even if I could spend the few thousand more for the track, I probaly wouldn't. I like to spend the few thousand I save on customization;). Besides, the base model has 287hp just like the top of the line model:D.
BTW, thanks for the Nissan Link;). Bat™ |
I am happy to say mine is on the way. But Good Luck finding one. All I see is Enthusiast. I searched a few dealers and gave up ordered one in November its getting shipped in March.
But even then I might change my mind and buy the enthusiast. |

I used to find my Maxima and before that when I wanted to check out the Spec V when it first came out. |
...I've got a base model (I even wrote it on my sig). I LOVE the car. I honestly feel that the Enthusiast model is the best deal because of the LSD and HIDs, but other than that, the Base has everything else you need (the luxuries of the higher models are great, but you don't really NEED them). I originally ordered an Enthusiast model, but when the car was here the dealer wouldn't sell it to me unless I took their HIGH (11%) interest rate. I just got lucky to find the exact same car (color and options) but in a Base model. I am actually glad I did now. I plan to add an aftermarket LSD and Phillips Ultinon HIDs, which should cost me about the $2000 I saved. I still think that the Enthusiast is the best deal, but there is nothing wrong with going with the Base if that's what you can find and/or afford. Good luck in your search, I am sure you'll find one eventually, just don't give up...

hehe, you guys have to understand something. I Don't have any power package on my Celica, so the base model 350Z is a big upgrade for me:D .

I've had my base model since September, and I have to say I love it. It is most certainly a step up from my 96 Prelude.
|
yeah maybe I will go with the enthusiast...
