G35 owner: Damn 350z's!
 

Okay, so this morning I wake up at the Holiday Inn express and head down to my 2k4 g35 coupe. As I'm walking down to my car I see out of the corner of my eye, a Pikes peak 350z with exhaust and wheels and god knows what else.

This is my biggest weakness. The PPW is the sicked color on a Z. I don't know what it was, but my stomach kinda dropped. I just realized in that 5 second stare, that I want a 350z. I mean, I've always wanted a 350z, I test drove 5 of them. But I got the G for the backseat. TBH I have used the back seat a good amount. But I want something more raw. I found myself wanting to gut my g35, adding a supercharger, exhaust, all this money. But why would I do that to a supposed luxury car.

Bottom line. I owe 28,000 on my G. Its worth near 25,000. I need to either take some negative equity or save up the 3k required. I'll probably just take the negative equity and make a deal with myself not to mod until I pay down to the price of the Z.

Damn I shoulda just bought the Z.

Honestly I have always been mad ball sweatin over a white G35....and i have a white 350z.

Sorry to say but if you owe $28K on your 2004 G35 then that was your first mistake.

But don't feel too bad. You still have a nice car.

Well I didn't pay anything down. It was a 2004 fully loaded with 15,000 miles on it. So thats not really that bad of a mistake. PS, I just bought it 4 months ago.

Sounds more like a few years after getting married. Always noticing the other possibilities and all of a sudden your original decision does not look so good. :cool:

I was looking at both a white g35 and a white 350. It was pretty even until test driving both back to back. After driving the G, I was like... well, this is nice. When I drove the 350 I said... I'll take it. After a year and a half i still love the ppw 350. That new san marino looks appetizing though.

here's how you do it, find a used Z at a big dealer that you like and would want to buy. Next find one of the most expensive cars on the lot and claim you are very interested in it. It gets better, then have them appraise your trade, if you convince them to pay it off take the second (vehicle X) for a second test ride and at that time proclaim you do not like the car. Then shift all focus to the Z, use the inflated appraisal to purchase the less expensive Z :D problem solved

PS....I have an IP G35 Coupe...And IMO there are no colors in the G35 that beat it...I know Im biased, but its really dead sexy...On the other hand, had I gotten a Z I would have def went with a PPW...And Im currently in the process of selling my G for a PPW Z...But ONLY to save money...Not for the reasons you mentioned...:icon38:

i dunno when i was looking to trade in my 350Z i tried pulling a stunt like that at the dealership however they would literally say "well if you are going for that car then we can only give you 15xxx for your car rather than the original 17xxx" Needless to say i walked out......i will never agian try to trade in a car at a stealership it was the worst experience at every single one in the Dayton, Oh/Columbus area that i have ever experienced.

^ Gotta stand strong against the dealer! once a value is set for your car they cannot renig on it.

next time have them write it down on a quote leave to go get lunch or whatever for about an hour and a half tell them you might be back then go back and say i changed my mind its on the quote its a done deal they cant change it prob. solved.

God bless the paint artist at Nissan that created the PPW color...I'm absolutely thrilled with mine. Best of luck on the decision.
