I bought a new '98 FZR 600 in March I believe of '98. When I was picking up the bike they had just delivered two new R1's (first year they sold them). When I saw the red/white R1, my jaw hit the floor. Of course I saw pics in mags of it before but in person it looked like it was from another world, in a good way.
I later found the red/white die cast R1, which was the first one I got that started the collection. I collected those bike for about 5 years but stopped buying them about 5 years ago because there was no place to put anymore and it takes like 3 hours to dust all those ****'s.
I had a blue 2000 R1 back in 2000. Had it for 2 years then sold it. Later in March of 2004 I bought a new leftover '03 R1 also blue, I modded both bikes similarly. I was thinking of getting an RC51 instead of the '03 R1 but wasn't sure I would be happy with a V-twin or it's power, so ended up going with R1 number two. I sold the last R1 in '05 so I could buy my Z sooner.
