How is this a yellow 05 Z.. but not an anniversary edition?

Sorry if this is in the wrong thread, and probably a stupid question!!

Im just curious, I thought all Yellow 350z's were "ultra yellow" and 35th anniversary editions... which of course has the rev up engine and other stuff...

This guy says its an enthusiast model though... Can anyone tell me whats the deal with this car? Is it possible to have a yellow enthusiast model?

I might buy this Z, it only has 20500 miles!! And can get it for around 14,500 maybe less, I offered 14.. too bad its automatic :(

dave079 05-21-2010 03:40 AM

No it was just an extra charge of $500 if people wanted it

Bumble Z 05-21-2010 03:47 AM

my previous Z was ultra yellow touring yet it was not a 35th ann model it is possible its a color only produced in 05 only the actual anniversary 6mt's recieved the rev up engine as well as the oil consumption issue mine was 5at hence why its my Previous Z now.. go 6mt save ur self the wanting a mt sports car later on

Ruthless18x 05-21-2010 04:12 AM

My ultra yellow is an enthusiast. Just like Dave said, it's a option.

Autos suck though. I'd pass.

bkmusic08 05-21-2010 04:14 AM

Yea I have really been wanting a 6mt, and have always driven manuals... Im pretty sure I can get his Z for 14k which is a good deal.

What happened to make you get rid of the Z?

Ive been wantin to get an HR and a 6mt, but not sure I should be spending that much money...

He bought a new one.

Buying something just because it's a "good deal" is never a good idea. If you're just going to drive it around town, go for it. But if you are going to do some track days, fi, etc, I wouldn't recommend it.

HR isn't that special.

bkmusic08 05-21-2010 04:34 AM

Well It would just be a daily driver, no track or anything, and probably will only put in an intake and wheels! Im not getting it just because its a good deal, ive been lookin for a Z the past 2 months every day (about to return from afghanistan)

Its exactly what I want, has very low miles, and seems perfect. The only thing I am not too crazy about it the 5at... I dont think thats a huge deal to be honest, im not going to mod it too crazy. I just want to have a nice 350z to enjoy and not try to have a super fast car with a ton of mods.
Ive been reading that the 5at's on a Z is pretty good actually for an auto tranny...

Sounds like it would work out just fine then. I'm in Colorado too, maybe I'll see you driving around.

I say go for it. Sounds like a good deal, just make sure to inspect the car thoroughly or bring a friend that knows about cars. I also drive a 5at Z and I have no complaint's. My first cars were manuals and I never really cared for it. I just like to cruise I guess. Yellow is a very nice color choice! Just keep the MOD's tasteful and have fun with your car :)

FineWine 05-21-2010 05:59 AM

IMO buying an auto is a terrible idea, especially since you already acknowledged it as a negative. You will be wishing you waited every time you see a 6mt that you could have waited for.

Be patient...the cars are only going to get cheaper.

lawn boy 05-21-2010 06:01 AM

i just picked up a 6mt enthusiast ultra yellow w/ 16k miles....non anniversary obviously

SoarVigor 05-21-2010 06:12 AM

I love my AT Z. My first 2 cars were MT ('84 NA Z31, '88 SC MR2) and I have no complaints with my Z. I've yet to see an NA MT Z beat me in a 1/4 mile. I loooove the low-end TQ.

just say no to the auto

User 42426 05-21-2010 08:15 AM

Sounds like a pretty good deal to me. If you dont care much for the mt, i think at for you should be fine. But make sure your not going to regret it. I have an at and the worst part is, every time i get in the car i wish i bought a mt.

350ZTheStandard 05-21-2010 09:48 AM

I am pretty sure you could have gotten a 05 35th anniversary edition 350Z in black also. I am verifying this on Google now.

chitownpete 05-21-2010 10:29 AM

Buy a 6mt. Autos are for luxury cars. It took a while for me to find a 6mt roadster that wasn't black and had low miles but I waited and got what I want. This motor seems to have enough torque to work well with a auto trans however.

Here come the wannabe racers with their manual b.s

I don't even realize i'm shifting most of the time.

But i would notice if i had no balls, just not willing to give up my balls, mancard etc etc.

you probably live around flat roads. :icon8:

bkmusic08 05-21-2010 12:59 PM

Cool thanks for the input guys,
and about the transmission thing.. Every car ive owned has been a manual and I love it, but I honestly think Ill be fine with an automatic. Im still in the market looking around! Thanks for clearing up the color issue

BarefootRacer 05-21-2010 01:53 PM

Skip the auto. Tons of 6mt Z's out there for sale so just be patient and keep looking. Youll find a better deal if you just stay patient and hold out. You dont wanna regret a 14k $ mistake. Good luck!

I've been driving a 6mt car for a while and got the Z with auto.

Plenty of punch and low end, mine has the tiptronic.

Its a little less involved ride with the auto but very much more comfortable.

Waiz 05-21-2010 02:34 PM

Way to stay on topic fellas

LOL

Beast101 05-22-2010 08:59 AM

In my opinion

Most of the users on this forum f'd up when they didn't get Chrome Silver :dunno: :bowrofl:

And why do people say "but I have tiptronic". I thought all ATs were shiftable automatic?

x2 :dunno:

i personally prefer a manual for a Z but to each their own.. but depending on you're needs you may be much more happy with an auto . i geuss alot of the members like to have the true sports car feel when driving so an auto to them is pointless

anyway, you should decide that before anything.. even if it is a good deal you dont want to regret not buying one with the transmission you would really prefer.

I hate it when people say that. "I have tiptronic". No, fool, Audis and Porsches have tiptronic, Porsche created the term. Nissan calls it "manual mode".

Edit: Wtf? Is it me or is everybody's quotes just a bunch of boxes? :|

Pig Pen 05-22-2010 10:50 AM

Having driven MTs for 10 years, getting a Z in an AT was wat I wanted. I love the control of a MT, but my AT scoots just fiiiiiine. Shifts smooth as hell and the Manual Mode is nice the have when the time is right. I lvoe them both and to each their own. All I can say is that the AT jumps off a line like a champ!

like most who love 6mt do i had a good deal on the yellow one at that time but i needed that clutch and the joy of shifting dont make that same mistake if u love the true sports feeling

sevensinz79 05-25-2010 07:20 PM

i have a 05 Ultra Yellow touring sitting in my garage so YES they do come in that color but was only limited to that year.

BTW, I have an auto and use to be a strong believer of MT only... and to be honest i really don't care. its actually fun not worrying to much about a miss shift while messing with some little kids riced up Honda and looking like a dumb a**.

+ theres a huge difference between what people tend to think of automatic and whats automatic on sports cars now and days. Otherwise true sports car manufactures wouldnt even invest money into auto trannys (please don't bash, i know already that theres a HUGE difference with a z and a ferrari)

I have a yellow 05 6spd roadster gt! I bought it about 6 months ago am gona check the msrp and vin since i work at a nissan dealership most likely i can check if its the anniversary edition. Mine has the brembo brakes, any one know if thats part of the anniversary edition???

350ZTheStandard 05-26-2010 07:04 PM

35th anniversary edition does have the Brembo's and silver plate on the console with the chassis number, though the roadster is not included. The yellow color paint was available if you paid extra $$$$
