I can't believe a Z driver posted this

I found this on another Zcar forum. After 6 months of driving the Z and this?? I just feel like laughing so hard.

ignition lock

ok, I have a 2003 touring... no problems for 6 months... today after lunch the ignition is locked and I can't turn it on. I wait.. lock / unlock multiple times...no dice....wait more lock/unlock jiggle key.... whatever... no dice..

So I get a coworker to pick me up....get back to the office and call into nissan.. the dude tells me its an anti theft deal..... here is the fix

With your left hand apply foward and upward force to the steering wheel (not center, rim) at 12:00 high and try to rock it back and forth while jiggling key with right hand.....

So I bum another ride and go back to the car and it works....my beef is why didnt anyone tell me this earlier... what if I was out in the middle of bumbleFock or out boozing at night after the dealer was closed???? Let my pain in the azzz be your learning experience

wait, what does this 3rd pedal do?

Anyone2u Nov 4, 2003 09:06 PM

Sorry to bring this back up, but I wonder if this is the same guy that took over an hour to get his car out of the parking space in San Francisco ... :D

I think this line from "Ruthless People" pretty much sums it up: This could very well be the stupidest person on the face of the earth!

iLLestJrz Nov 4, 2003 09:26 PM

What a dork:icon18:

Paul_BB_Guy Nov 4, 2003 09:31 PM

It's a wonder if he knows how to get it into reverse.

ares Nov 4, 2003 09:49 PM

haha, thats funny, but I wont laugh too much... cause when I first started driving in my first car it happened and I thought it was broken...

even still sometimes when it happens it takes me a second to remember.

ml2316 Nov 4, 2003 10:04 PM

yeah that happened to me in my first car. and it happens so rarely i think i forgot at first a couple times too.

TypeSVA Nov 4, 2003 10:17 PM

:icon11: thats all i have 2 say .. :o

longbowe Nov 4, 2003 11:15 PM

Cut the guy some slack, it's probably his first car. Happened to me in my Alt, too.

SweatyPalm Nov 4, 2003 11:23 PM

The funny part is, he called his coworker (with his cell phone/pay phone) to pick him up and he called Nissan at his office and then go back to the car (wtf?). Why didn't he just ask his coworker to check the number off the internet so that he can call from there?

from my favorite movie 'Six Sense' ----- "I see dumb ppl.....they are everywhere....and they don't know they are dumb"

** Nov 4, 2003 11:23 PM

this isnt the same thing but

i was in my garage one night and i was going to check the feathering on my tires so i turned the wheel all the way to the left so i could see a full view of the tire..next thing i knew was i heard a click and the damn steering wheel locked up column and everything i guess i put the wheel in a bind from turning all the way . anyway i couldnt get it to unlock for anything finally after about 10 minutes of messing with it ...it unlocked i thought i had broke it as much as i was trying to get it to unlock... see it was locked with the wheels turned all the way left.

No the best part is that Nissan told him it's an anti theft "deal".

alphared Nov 4, 2003 11:33 PM

OMG. I can see this guy getting raped by Nissan's service department. They probably gonna sell him blinker fluid:D

Oh, I know. Dealer blinker fluid is such a rip!

RJW0501 Nov 5, 2003 12:15 AM

yet if not changed regularly, blinkers will blow...p.s. Nissan will not cover under warranty...I've had it happen twice!

xray2 Nov 5, 2003 02:07 AM

You know, this stuff is in the manual, the guy shouldn't *****.

Dr Bonz Nov 5, 2003 04:18 AM

Yeah, I NEVER get my blinker fluid from the dealer, they'll rip you off on it every time!

I get mine from an online performance shop. It's synthetic! It costs a little bit more but they tell me it'll make my blinkers last a lot longer and light up brighter!

DeZigner Nov 5, 2003 05:06 AM

The part I liked (not) was the following...

What if I was out in the middle of bumbleFock or out boozing at night after the dealer was closed????

Boozing and driving. We can only hope he eventually is the receipient of the Darwin award.
