Snow and Z's.
 

Im sure that not everyone likes to drive their precious Z in the snow! But some of us have choice....:(
Post what you do to keep your car in good condition during snowy times.

From what I understand, your best bet is to get some snow tires and hope it doesn't snow more than 5-6 inches.

350Z's are not very good in the snow at all.

My car would be a plow in the snow. Glad I live in the south.

There ain't much you can do but to get another car to drive and park the Z in the garage during the winter.

Snow and the Z are like oil and vinegar. They just don't mix.

Car cover, do not brush snow off. Use soft gloves or clothes to remove excess snow. Don't try up hills and be sensible. Driving a Z in the snow can be fun or a horror story just depends on how much common sense you have... Snow tires are a must!

No, but it makes a nice salad dressing.

Blizzaks on the stocker wheels, self-serve car wash 2 blocks from my shop. Bought it to drive it.

I DROVE MY Z32 OVER THE WINTER IN ALASKA.. TUFF CAR FOR SURE.

REGARDLESS, BLIZZAK TIRES ARE A GOD SEND.

I HAD A MANUAL AND NO TRACTION CONTROL ON IT AND WAS STILL FINE.

STIF SETTING REAR SWAY BARS HELP A ton AS WELL.. THE REAR DOESNT SLIDE OUT AROUND CORNERS BECUASE IT FORCES BOTH TIRES TO STAY ON THE GROUND MUCH HARDER.

TRY THOSE IDEAS OUT, YOU WILL THANK ME, ITS A TREMENDOUS DIFFERENCE.

AND BUY ANOTHER CAR FOR WINTER.. CMON. I WAS A KID WHEN I TORMENTED MY Z32.. DONT BE A FOOL.

Things I do to help the Z in the winter:

Check the weather/road reports before travelling.
Insulated, sometimes heated garage.
Snow tires on sacrificial wheels. Snow tires are an absolute must have. Do not try without.
Check tire pressure often because of the lack of TPMS in winter wheel/tire set-up.
Ignore flat tire light. Explain to passengers occasionally.
Rubber floor mats.
Winter wiper blades.
Flip wiper blades up when parked outside with a chance of ice/snow.
Use the snow brush as a last resort only. Even then, try to imagine that the bristles are made of stainless steel.
Call in "stuck" to work when the snow gets too deep. Can't really use this excuse any more since I bought my winter beater.
No automatic car washes ever no matter how dirty. Spray rinse only from the hot water tap in the garage.
Paint sealant or wax pre-season if I find the time.
RainX on the glass.
Woven snatch cord in the trunk in case someone wants to pull me out of a ditch.
Remember that the transmission will not go into 1st gear until 0.00 MPH or is warmed up.
Try to keep the fuel above half tank.
Avoid road boogers if possible, go slow if not.
Marker poles along the driveway so that I can see where it is supposed to be. My wife can't seem to grasp this concept and runs them over anyway.

Snow tires are a must.

It snowed one night while I was at work.
I couldn't even get out of a leveled parking lot.
I ended up going home in my coworkers STI :thumbup:
Keep in mind, this was FRESH snow.

Another time it snowed.
I waited a day or two, but I needed to get out of the house.
I actually drove around town and on the freeway just fine.
Slowly but surely.

Alright so snow tires ehh ? Well what about pressure Iv heard that flatter tires work better in the snow ??

We don't get a *lot* of snow here, but I have a set of decent all-season tires.

The Z is a lot of fun in the snow, and doesn't drive too badly. Tires make all the difference (the Z is delivered with *summer* tires which become four pieces of plastic below about 45 degrees).
