Can the Z handle the high rpms after 100k miles

I searched here and google and only got news on the high rev motor.

Can the vq motor handle high rpms after 100k miles? I have almost 129k and to be honest im not looking to rebuild it just yet.

Both vids the engine has over 150k miles, been tracked since I bought it over 115k miles ago.

Still going, running it again in a couple weeks at Willow Springs.

maybe 300k and you'll have issues

I kinda want to leave the motor in till it blows, but I doubt it will see 160 before a fresh one is installed.

Why would you replace the motor at 160k? Unless your just a rutard and blow the thing because you tack redline for no damn reason everything you shift

That's um a unusual response. Not that intelligent eh?

In our cars the engine will probably be the last thing to go. Just take care of it. If it does blow, it was probably going to anyways, not because you gave it a little gas.

why would the engine NOT be able to rev high/hard past 100k? If the engine has been maintained and not abused I don't see why this would even come up?

redline06 03-07-2013 06:14 AM

im at 115K and rev out to 8100RPM :dunno:

Nope once you go from 99,999 miles to 100,000 she will blow instantly if slightly reved over 4k. Is this really a question?? Why wouldn't you be able to!!

iideadeyeii 03-07-2013 08:50 AM

What is high Rpms? I bring my 350z with 145k miles to 7200, though I don't see any extra kick from going over the stock rev limiter. Quarter mile times didn't change

Because I have a forged , balanced , ported motor with huge cams being built. Then I remove the current motor and build it up as a spare.

Yes.

Because racecar.

Planetwister 03-07-2013 09:37 AM

Hahahahahaha ^^^

Well as stupid as it sounds I just bought the car with that many miles on it. So I do not know what it has been through. I guess im underestimating the vq.

You are underestimating any engine, not just the VQ.

Is it boosted or NA?

My post wast to you..... If you track it, that's a totally different story, for just "racecar" purposes then a high rev every now and then the motor should hold I would inagine

NA. But with any motor around 100k its getting tired.

godzilla619 03-07-2013 02:35 PM

that is not true of today's modern engines. most engines today are expected to make 100k miles if not 200k-300k. in fact some engines dont require any major servicing other than oil changes till at least than 100k miles.
