I've had my Z for 6 months now. Opinions!

I bought my 2006 interlagos flame Z in early November (bonestock) and have already added Borla TD, intense power test pipes, Mrev2, jwt pop charger, UR pulley, Cusco sways, torque solutions solid mount, N1 front lip and a bride zeta 3 seat. I'm looking for opinions on what I should do next, I got a 3.7 fd from a g37s I was looking to put in with a 1.5 way and jwt clutch and flywheel combo but I'm stuck. I'm sure my car is running pretty lean with all these mods and I was wanting to supercharge my car within the next year but I really don't want to get my car tuned now and have to retune again after. Is there anyone in the Orlando area familiar with Z's and can tune good, I've done all the work on the car myself and really don't trust anyone with it. I was looking into doing headers as well but since this is my daily I really don't have the time to attempt a diy. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks, much appreciation :)

Remove UR pulley for a DD, traction is always a good thing. The final drive is a bit short if you got FI.

I haven't heard anything bad about them for a daily tho, my car feels like it drives better, and I might not go fi I think I might just go headers then tune.

You need to find someone to trust to tune that Z. All that work to the intake system could be causing lean fuel or too much fuel. Lean is just bad all together, Too much = bad mpg and other stuffs.

From what I have seen it is easy to go way to lean with bolt ons and no tune. Get some kind of tune now and then go from there. Maybe coilovers with the other parts you mentioned and you'll have a very fun NA 350Z.

Do you know any cheap tuning option for now till I can go uprev after headers?

I don't understand.. you spent all that money on "Borla TD, intense power test pipes, Mrev2, jwt pop charger, UR pulley, Cusco sways, torque solutions solid mount, N1 front lip and a bride zeta 3 seat".. yet you can't fork over a little more to complete the process properly?

Depending on your FI project, UpRev could be used for that too.. so it wouldn't be a total waste.

I think the only cheap option is 'hope'.. just keep driving it as it is and hope nothing goes wrong. You will probably be Ok for a little while at least - you got this far right.?

Wheels and coilovers

stuartc323 May 1, 2013 08:26 AM

how about you pay for a tune? what kind of **** is that, your dropped money on all these other parts, yet want to skimp out on the most important part?

retarded.

Not really skimping, I'm paying $500 a month paying insurance and car payments but I'm still trying to get all of this. Just waiting on headers

I know for a turbo this set up is wrong. A supercharger I'd just have to remove the pulley, but I'm thinking just to stay na with headers and a tune. I've thrown too much money on a hopeless build so I might as well just end it, get wheels and coils and I'm done

You might still be able to find a used Cobb AP for sale somewhere. That'll get you tuned up on the cheap. Why the 3.7 FD?

ksuberk54 May 2, 2013 06:58 AM

You have an Mrev2 but no spacer? smh

Jah70 May 2, 2013 08:53 AM

no spacer?

DarkCreep May 2, 2013 10:28 AM

I find it so interesting that everyone always wants to skimp on the tune, but they throw the cash elsewhere. Maybe because they dont get a tangible product to touch.
I know I got my Civic tuned twice and both times I loved how smooth the power band was and how great the car felt.

OP stop buying ricer parts for your car and get it tuned.

I have the spacer too ofcourse, the 3.7fd cause I got it free and I will get it tuned just want all the bolt ins first so I do t have to keep retuning. Just wish their was a cheaper solution to all this so I can be safe till I can afford headers and uprev

That might e the best option for me, just need to search for one. And I for the FD free what's wrong with it? I didn't want anything too crazy

Have you thought about doing a Nitrous setup or turbo/SC?

You should be able to find one somewhere. The Cobb AP is what I used ( with a custom map ) on my NA build that included cams and headers plus all the usual bolt ons.

As far as the gearing, I'm assuming you have a manual transmission. While the 3.7 is a step in the right direction, it's pretty weak. I had the 4.08 on my NA build and it was awesome. Even though you got it free, installation can get pricey once you add up all the install parts ( bearings, shims, washers etc. ).
