Then circa 2007 I saw a red Nismo at a car get together a few hours south. At the time I was still in my orange 3s-gte swap Celica with over 200,000+ miles and shell coming from the junkyard; there were certain short comings which would bring my coupling with the Celica to an end.

The Nismo was a great looking car and had a lot of updates I liked, especially the brake system. I'm an enthusiast autocrosser and track day participant. Those that know me are aware I'm in it just for the fun, but a car with a more proper weight balance with updates from the factory in the right places for a great price was hard to beat.

Why did the Nismo become my dream car? The reinforced shell, the relatively cheap price and the parts supply available. Many people dream of supercars, but none of those really provide me anything additional to what I could get from the Nismo. My reasons are probably different than most, but after all the years of working on cars, building and running them my experience has shaped a different view.

Well said.

I think the distinction on this topic really comes down to mass produced Sports Cars (like the 350Z), and Exotic Cars (some which are mass produced depending on your standards of mass production numbers).

Point being you have the Nissan 350Z then you have A Ferrari ... Then even further down the "Dream" line you have something like the latest Bugatti Veyron (money wise).. That's totally impractical with tires that are 25-50k a piece in some cases (maybe that is a set.. but still).

I turned 16 right in the "end" of the 90's and the end of the Sports car revolution like the 300ZX NA and TT, Supra, 3000GT, Dodge Stealth (all of those (300ZX, 3000GT, and Stealth) were 222hp cars, v6 engines.. and 300ZX was the best made of the lot.. with the 3000GT in the middle. There were more.. I just can't remember now. So I actually saved my pennies and got a used 300ZX (Non turbo) with 222hp.. It ran something like 6.7 seconds 0-60 IIRC,.. Loved the car.

There is something about the Nissan engineers and the 300ZX, 350Z and 370Z (so far) that makes it such a great sportscar design. They fit me so well,.. I honestly wouldn't switch from this car until you got to the exotics,.. A car that looks pretty but feels like hell is not going to make you happy for long. The Z line does a good job in mixing Juuust enough comfort and luxury with raw power and handling + sexy looks to make it a great balanced sports car.

My dream car has been an e60 m5 for a while. Even though the f10 came out I still love the e60. Dat v10 family sedan.

So no the 350z was not my dream car. It is, however, an awesome car that I enjoy every day.

same here i actually didnt like them when they came out. But low and behold became obsessed with them.

Not my dream car, but i have always wanted one because of my dads and my uncles Zs. My dad had an original 240z, and my uncle still has his 300zx, so i come from a line of Z owners. It has sentimental value to me.

I love to drift.. Z's are the masters of it. Plus its a total chick magnets ;)

The E30s M3s are sick but extremely rare. I'm so jelly that this guy has one. I have a E92 but you can never forget the classics. I actually prefer the 240Z over the Z33 and Z34 too.

Kris T.b 01-12-2014 09:43 AM

i almost bought an E30 M3 before winter, but i needed a winter vehicle lol

Haha my brother has a 1996 with 265,000 miles! Still going.

I didn't like the 350z when it first came out back in 2003, I thought it looked like a cat. But then after the 350Z won motorweek's Drivers’ Choice Best of the Year award for 2003, I respected it from then on...and then during my senior year of highschool I noticed the 2006 z's with their updated headlights and taillights and I liked them! And then in 2007 things got even better when they got that HR engine and the "bulge" hood and those awesome 5 spoke 18" rims (well the rims came out in 2006) - and at that point in '07 I realized the car had really grown on me and I wanted one...so when my 240sx started failing in multiple areas in 2011, I had an opportunity to buy a Carbon Silver 2007 350z and I jumped on it! - and I have loved every second of being in the car!

Lol I think the only way they will die is if you really intentionally try to screw it up like run it with bad oil for a few years or purposely wreck it. I had mine in high school at 120,000 miles and now it's at 210,000 miles. Toyota was really on their A game when they made their cars. If I do get into a wreck with it I just might buy another one and transplant the engine to reach the 500,000 mile mark with it.

RaceBreed350Z 03-26-2014 03:36 PM

I have always loved Z's. Ever since I was 10 years old. I used to play Tokyo Extreme racer and my dream cars were always the Skyline, 240z, 300zx tt, 350z and Rx7. Now I'm 22 and I own a 500hp 35th ann 350z ;) I pick the 350z over any of them now. (except the R34..lol) My goals are higher now, my dream car at this point is the Ferrari 458 Italia & GTR. But if I had that kind of money I would prob not even buy them, I would rather spend the cash on multiple cars rather than 1 or 2.

It is my realistic dream car. If i could afford one, I would drive Gallardo. I have owned Nissans all my life. First car was a 93 Sentra Classic, then a 2003 Altima SL, now a 350z. Probably do the 370z next but I am married now so maybe I will start back over at the Sentra.

It was my affordable dream car at the time haha, gtr is next

lumper1 04-08-2014 07:43 AM

I dont have a dream car, there are so many great cars I would love to own someday, I totally get Jerry Seinfeld and Jay Leno collecting so many cars if they can afford it.
The
Z is just a cool car to play with for a couple years for now.

I sold my Harley and decided I would buy a fun car to drive, it could have been anything, I am not even sure how I landed on the Z to be honest, I just like the shape really, and then the more I read and learned the more I liked them.

I was looking at a mustang, a corvette, a 67 fairlane 429, etc.. other bikes, but in the end I thought a newer car, modern with nice lines and lots of torque would be fun to drive and not to expensive to buy so there ya go.

Lump

^ What that guy said... So many cool cars I'd love to own...

Lotus Evora is near the top of the list.

GT-R of course.

Audi R8.

I guess those three are on my "Need to own before I croak" list.
