That's a pretty substantial weight loss. Love it bro. Keep it up.

could you please specify what brand of side splitters you run in your current setup?

First thing to do, read the rules. Read Redline rules, read NASA rules and SCCA rules for the classes your Z will compete in. Right now your Z is fine for NASA and SCCA (except the Cusco bar) but redline you will be in unlimited.
Next, you will really want a set of 18 inch wheels Last advice, quit dumping money into the build, and hit the track. Keep hitting the track, upgrade as needed. I started my build without researching class limits for spec Z and now I realized that Im pretty screwed once it comes to staying in the class. And seat time is most valuable, the more variances of race types, the more you will be able to know the limits of your car at all points. Track then buy |

Nice job, MA!
I like your wrap so much better than paint. So- You bagging and tagging all that bish for later, or are you selling it? Good luck @ the track.

I asked for 18's but Forgiato does not even have 18" blanks i will be selling this cage in the near future and get a custom one. i figured i would be in the unlimited class as well. I need more power for that class haha. and as far as me dumping money into the car most of the money im dumping into it is literally just for looks, I know its an impractical track car but i still want it to look good. the only stupid expenses that I cannot justify are: shift knob, steering wheel and the Cage, Honestly that's about it. The wrap definitely did not need to be done but you know what, I want it to look pretty good to me at least.

Your better off learning without the wing. You will need about 600+ hp for unlimited and a well sorted suspension with proper aero.
What wing did you get? |

OP started this thread saying he was almost through with his build, but knowing what he's up against, I'd say he's still on the front end of becoming remotely competitive. |
Loving the current setup!
Just wondering, with your old setup, did you have any spacers on the oem wheels? they fit on the car perfectly. |

Agreed- a wing will most likely slow you down and without an experienced driver or sorted suspension, will just be confusing. The other issue with using 19" wheels in an unlimited class is the difficulty and expense of finding good R-compound tires in the sizes needed.

As of right now there is no way in hell I am going to be able to enter in redline for a couple years. This is a one step at a time thing, I decided to remove the cusco cage and I'm shopping around to get a welded cage. |

So,
I haven't updated this thread in a while Life happened and I just got real busy... Anyway here are some update pics for whoever is interested, I worked on all day Saturday and this is how far I got.... Here's a couple shots before the updates Attachment 391894 Attachment 391895 Here's a few after the updates done on saturday Attachment 391896 Attachment 391897 Attachment 391898 Attachment 391899 Attachment 391900 Attachment 391901 Still have to paint the wing, install the front diffuser, and I'm waiting for my Enjuku "K" harness bar. I've come to the realization that I will not be racing professionally anytime soon, so for the time being I have decided to keep the Cusco Cage, I found that the Enjuku harness bar works with it. I'm going to Miami this weekend so there will not be anymore updates until the weekend of the 18th Hope you enjoy! |
Frigging awesome. Love the Kevlar look!

great thread - love the progress

Very nice build so far. How much was the wrap and how long did it take? I'm considering getting my Z wrapped
|
Man- that is a HUGE wing. I'd love to find out how much drag it creates. Will the amount of downforce in the corners make up for the loss of top end?

I appreciate the compliment, I got the car wrapped for 1500, it took my guy a week when he had 3 others cars as well.

I appreciate it! I wanted something other than regular carbon fiber So i waited and had these made by Shine. Great quality minus a few seem lines that are off. |
How much have you spend on creating this track car?
I like everything originally thought it was plastidip but wrap is much better. Idk what other regulations you need to comply with but seems like you're close. |
Dude your car is so dope. I swear I wanna wrap mine the same color.
$1500 is outstanding. I'm getting quotes of 2500-3500. |
Gotta ask- when was the last time you had your Z at a racetrack?
|
Very nice looking. Keep us posted.

love that color scheme!

More than I'm willing to admit :suicide: I like everything originally thought it was plastidip but wrap is much better. Idk what other regulations you need to comply with but seems like you're close. |
