Default Tore Z apart for track, pics inside. Haters welcome =]

So, its been a really long time since I've posted anything on here, so I thought what better time than now. I'm nearing the end of my build. Still to come is:

Large Park Bench on rear hatch (in transit)
Personal steering wheel (in transit)
Front Amuse diffuser (kevlar) (have but lazy)
Rear Top Secret diffuser (kevlar) (have but lazy)
Seat belts haven't been installed yet either! =D (have but lazy)

BTW for whoever is curious before removing complete interior car weighed in at 3351 with a full tank of gas
Vehicle now weighs in at 3009 lbs with a full tank of gas.

Here are some pics. If you want to know anything about it feel free to ask. Just thought I would share with the "friendly" forum crowd!
Enjoy

No hating here- what kind of racing do you participate in? Also, is that a bolt-in cage?

Nice - feel a good difference in acceleration with -342lbs? I'd expect you should.

How much does the cage weigh?
How much less do the aftermarket wheels weigh?
Do you have HFCs installed or Test Pipes? (nice weight loss)

Looks like a great start, you may want to look into various rules for the type of driving you want to do.
That cage will not pass any safety standards.

Yeah I bought this Cusco cage without doing any reading or any research, as of right now I'm not racing in any amateur or professional events, so until i get more track time under my belt i figure it will suffice. Obviously I will get the proper welded in cage when the time comes, Just want to clarify that. My ultimate goal is to join in the redline time attack. As good of a driver I believe I am, I definitely need more practice.

I'm not trying to toot my own horn or anything, But I did keep up with a v8 R8 the other day, not saying I won or anything but he did not pull away.
I currently have Berk Test pipes installed
Wheels are Forgiato Formula Series, despite what a lot of people think Forgiato Does make a track wheel, unfortunately only in 19's
the front are
19x10 +15 weighing in at 17.6 lbs
Rears are
19x11 +10 weighing in at 18.7 lbs
The Cage im not to sure how much but honestly not that heavy.

Like I said earlier in this response, I have yet to join a specific sanctioning body. So until then honestly I'm just having fun. I recently bought a truck, thats when i decided screw it I have another car to drive lets Destroy a perfectly good Z and make it go faster and handle better than it already does. And to answer your other question yes it is the Cusco bolt in cage, but at least its the one that goes through the dash and does not go around it. So there is no KINK near the mounting point of the front section.

Anyway thanks for interest guys

I thought about that, but I'm going to make a "custom" dash and by custom i mean a bent piece of aluminum with custom gauge mounts and airplane style switches and what not.
I really don't care what the interior looks like no one will usually be in it aside from me. But I definitely agree with you it looks horrendous.

yes that pic of the trunk is fine. I am thinking about doing that to mine also. About how much did you save by gutting the trunk?

Yeah definitely when I get the chance, My car is an 06 so it IS a REVUP. I have no problem going to a quarter and finding out although my 0-60 will be hard to gauge i estimate in the mid to high 4's possibly even worse than stock I just don't know.

just in the trunk area alone, off the top of my head at least 80-100 lbs, mainly because of the spare tire and tool set

Ahh I see. I already don't ride around with my spare so I guess I might have another 40-50 pounds I can remove.

First thing to do, read the rules. Read Redline rules, read NASA rules and SCCA rules for the classes your Z will compete in. Right now your Z is fine for NASA and SCCA (except the Cusco bar) but redline you will be in unlimited.

Next, you will really want a set of 18 inch wheels

Last advice, quit dumping money into the build, and hit the track. Keep hitting the track, upgrade as needed.
