How long does it take?????????

Hey how long does it take from production to delivery to the dealer. Say it was started to be produced oct.1, when would it be at the dealer?

My guess would be mid to late November.

you dont get the VIN first. Must be built, then the VIN is assigned. AND yes in general that sounds right 30-45 days from build date to delivery!!

even more general, they like to say "october build, late november delivery"

From what I have been told by Nissan, the VIN number is issued BEFORE the car is built.. When the order is placed to put the car into assembly, the VIN is issued.. That's how they know what options go in which car.. My car came with a paper in it saying the build date was 07/31 That was 13 days after the VIN was issued.. I got to keep all the interesting paperwork the dealer normally keeps (or throws away)

Same thing happened when I ordered my Yukon. I had a VIN number 1 week before it was built. They faxed the VIN to the dealer with the order to confirm..

ZISME has been pretty insistent that the VINs are not put into the system until after your car is 2-3 days out of port. Did you get your VIN from someone deep inside of Nissan that got the information early?

I doubt the plants need your VIN to know what options to put on the car as it is built. They have your Order number (R, S, T, ...) that directs them to your shop/build order that contains all of the options.

originally by ZISMEOnce a vehicle gets built and loaded on a ship and the ship departs for the U.S. a vin# will show up in our system. .. Please understand that vin info is not available until the ship sails
Yes VIN=options. but this information is not available to anyone in NNA.
