Thumbs up If your car is delayed at the port....

because they are waiting for an optional equipment piece to arrive, i.e., a spoiler, (the port people will normally not release the car until all options have been installed)...you may want to do what I did.

My car arrived at Newport News on Sept. 8th (I ordered on Jan 14th) and as of Monday, September 23rd, it was no where near my dealer ship. So I contacted NNA Consumer Affairs and talked to a "Z Specialist". He informed me that it was indeed being held at the port because the spoiler had not arrived from Japan.

He told me that I could request in writing that my car be released to the dealer immediately without having the spoiler installed (the spoiler will be installed at the dealer whenever it arrives).

So, I went to my dealer, wrote a note to the effect that I wanted my car released to the dealer immediately (included my Dealer's name, VIN, etc.). As I sat there, my dealer faxed the note to the Mid-Atlantic Regional Office (As he was talking to the person in charge of the Z program).

That was it! I was informed that it will arrive at my dealer no later than next Wednesday. *you have to figure in that it takes a day to process the order at the port...then they have to find a car carrier headed my way and the car carrier's contract gives them 2 days to actually deliver the car from port-to-dealer*.

When I got home, I received an unsolicited phone call from my contact at NNA Consumer Affairs to make sure all went well. He told me he contacted the Mid-Atlantic Regional Office rep and that my request was being processed.

I believe my "Z Specialist" at NNA Consumer Affairs peruses this forum so I just wanted to give a shout out to David, a great guy who knows his stuff and who is an enormous asset to NNA.

Thanks DAVID!!!

Ahh...well, my first delivery date of 9/4 passed by, my dealer had no info, so I called NNA Consumer Affairs on 9/12 and they told me that the car was in port and delivery was expected on 9/25.

I called Tuesday, 9/24 to make sure that delivery date was still accurate. That's when I was told that it was waiting for a spoiler and that's when I asked if I could get it delivered without with spoiler.
