i heard 0-60 is like 5.6-5.8, but the only reason i need AT is cuz Chicago traffic sucks balls. And i'm old, 42.

My stock Z

You people are so ignorant. First of all my auto Z 0-60 is in the mid to low 5s(from Beltronics timer). I was at Atco see my sig..There was one MT Z with CAI who ran 13.5. I raced him on the street a handfull of times. The best 2 runs 0-100 which is about a 1/4 mile. He got me by 1/2-1 car. So you know how close it was. BTW if you MT Zs cant go 14.0 you suck!!:D

Aggro_AL, I can perfectly understand why you'd want an auto in the SF Bay Area. Driving around inside SF itself with a stick is a royal pain, especially if you haul people around and have to park on the hills. I live down on the peninsula where it's relative flat so that's why I have the stick.

As for performance, most autos these days are very close to the sticks, but a stickshift driver has to work a lot harder at PERFECT shifts to get a better time. In the real world, it's pretty equivalent.

And that guy who got an 88mph trap speed, yah it sure looks like he missed a shift! Z's don't trap at 88 mph!

i think you might be referring to me...i dont remember if the guy i was running against had a roadster but i think he did..plus the times he posted look familiar

i dont have a MT...i have an auto as well..and i didnt miss 3rd gear..what i told him was that i shifted to 4th ...which was retarted...and which is why i did so poorly..i had him off the line with a much better jump and i woulda posted at least a 14.3 or better if i had stayed in 3rd for the rest of the race...after i shifeted to 4th i felt the car slow down sooo much and he just kept gaining on me

it was my first time and ive been wanting to go back but i havnt had time

unfortunately this doesnt prove anything cause i have an AUTO also

For what it's worth, I have a 350 Roadster Touring model with automatic and I want up against a coupe with MT at ATCO last month with the following results:

Me: 1/8mi 9.533 sec @74.11 MPH
1/4mi 14.774 sec @ 93.09 MPH

Him: 1/8mi 9.389 sec @72.47 MPH
1/4mi 14.910 sec @ 88.76 MPH

He claimed he missed 3rd gear

I always shift into 4th gear in the 1/4mile runs. Max speed in 3rd is around 92 or so.

Dissolved, how the hell are you getting a 5.3 0-60 time with cosmetic mods?? The professional drivers form Motor Trend/Car & Driver ect, are averaging 5.6. You may want to check your equip.

havabooz 05-15-2004 02:44 PM

jonsilvz...you can run the 1/4 mile without shifting into 4th (assuming you are stock)..

even if you are right....i shifted into 4th wayyyyy too soon

My 0-60 was clocked at 5.3 seconds a couple weeks ago. I did the 0-60 run while strapped to the dyno. Also did a 1/4 mile run of 14.0 @ 98.7 mph.

Mods at the time were the Nismo intake and exhaust, which put me at 238 rwhp peak.

no sir it is not 0-60 in 5.6seconds for the automatic. Don’t rice your numbers out. It is 0-60 in 5.8 seconds in the auto.

C'mon trav.
I expected a fun response.
This guy/girl is posting a 2/10ths mph argument over some useless concern.
