Borrow someone's Gtech Pro and go to town

the thing is the #'s for a manuals are all over the place themselves!

ive seen 5.3 to 5.9 in respected magazines nissan claims 5.4

im GUESSING an auto would be around +.3or.4 more than a manual.

ml2316 05-11-2004 10:55 PM

it's like 5.6 secs in most mags for the auto. just learn how to drive a stick. why are people so afraid of learning to drive a stick.

LOL....afraid to learn? Who said anything in this thread about not being able to drive stick? Why do some fools believe that if someone asks a question about the 5AT it's because they're afraid of or can't drive a stick. If you don't have anything constructive to say, don't say anything. It's a waste of all of our time.

"just learn how to drive a stick"

Some of us drive in the city most of the time, and a stick is just a pain in the @$$ in city traffic. Sticks are fun when going fast and on the track, but not everyone can do those things often enough to warrent a manual tranny.

I think the answer to the 0-60 question is "around 6 seconds" or "fast enough." I'm not sure that most people can tell the difference between 5.6 seconds or 6.0 seconds.

Why do you think that people that have AT's can't drive a stick? I chose the AT over the MT because driving a MT in San Francisco hills or in Bay Area traffic just isn't fun. I'm sure other people have other reasons for not owning a MT. I like the MT but I chose the AT. If you don't like the AT that is fine. State your opinion but you don't have to put down other's that have a different preference.

As far as times for the AT they can be all over the place, also. They are comparable to the MT times. AT is maybe 0.1 sec slower if the MT driver shifted perfectly.

I hear you on that! Ive only been up to the Bay area once, and based on some of the roads I drove on, I cant imagine trying to drive a manual on them. Those hills are monsters, I was rolling backwards in the AT car I was driving!

Ok, back on subject...who cares about 0-60, they are pretty darn close in the 1/4 mile. :D

uh oh..someone didn't think before speaking muhahahahahaha!~

Incorrect
Try .3 to .4 seconds slower to 60.
And to whoever asked, YES you CAN feel the difference between 5.6 and 6.0 to 60mph. Sticking with my stick :D

For what it's worth, I have a 350 Roadster Touring model with automatic and I want up against a coupe with MT at ATCO last month with the following results:

Me: 1/8mi 9.533 sec @74.11 MPH
1/4mi 14.774 sec @ 93.09 MPH

Him: 1/8mi 9.389 sec @72.47 MPH
1/4mi 14.910 sec @ 88.76 MPH

He claimed he missed 3rd gear

I bought an auto after driving a stick since I was 16. 2hrs of traffic a day will change your attitude when it comes to driving an auto. Never thought I would do it, but I guess Im getting older... A whole 23. I want to relax more in my car than I used to. I love the auto. Its very responsive and when you turn TCS off you can do pretty much anything.

On those hills you end up heel-toeing or using the emergency brake often with a manual transmission.

GOD YOUR Z'S are slow... HAHAHHAHHA

Practice your drag racing. Your trap should be near 100mph for an auto. 1/4mile low 14s (mid 14s at worst)

btw:judging by the guy you raced's trap speed, it DOES sound like he missed 3rd
