What is the purpose of having a huge rim lip? Is it to save your spokes if you should (knocks on wood) hit the curb? And what rims are these:

Im not a fan of big a** lips my self, but I dont know about those Tommy Kaira's though. Not my cup of tea either I guess.

Nice wheels all around. The Tomy K's aren't really my thing either but are hardcore JDM, right?

I personally prefer the concave dish rims over the huge lip rims. Lips look good, but I think that they can be a bit played out after a while.

Yup. That's a Tommy Kaira Pro-R. It used to belong to tbaggs (bought by my2003z). One of the rarest wheels outside of Japan.
