Rear speakers don't work after HeadUnit replacement
Anyone had a problem with stock / base rear speakers after replacing the HeadUnit ?
I've replaced my stock base headunit with fosgate from Xterra and now rears wont work.. any ideas ? |
Those rear speakers are 16 ohms I think, and won't work right with a head unit that is not set up for different ohms in front and rear.
|
is there a fix for that ?
what can i do to make it work ? im mostly clueless about audio stuff.. |

rear fill sounds like a turd. |
16 ohms shouldn't be a problem - you've got the wires disconnected somewhere.

Rockford unit you are using form the Xterra, Is that aftermarket ? If it is OEM it may not have any rear outputs. It may be designed to work with a factory amp in rear. |
it is oem .. it just plugged in and that's it .. i dont think i had anything disconnected - cause those were oem plugs they just snapped in the back of head unit perfectly. also the rockford fosgfate is blinking at night.. i dont know what to do ... any help ?

If you can install it back in the Xterra and see what happens. |

I bought this headunit on ebay.. the guy swears by it and says it was removed because he installed navigation system..so the headunit is supposed to be new and working .. i dont know if xterra has an amp or not.. how can i use the 350z's Amp with this unit ? |

why would rears not work with OEM rockford fosgate.. ? |
Did you use both harnesses? There is the main harness that has the power and front speakers. The other small harness has the rear speakers on it.
|
yup .. i had two harnesses that i plugged in.. basicly the fosgate came with 4 holes - and as far as i remember only two were usable for the harnesses that i had... f@#K i really dont want to remove the whole dash again..
|
and the weird thing is the light on the display lights up fine.. but the light on button and on volume / seek knobs - is always either half way light up or is blinking .. its very weird.. dammmit...
|
whyd you buy the unit from a xterra, rather than just a normal aftermarket unit?
|
PM me if you want and I will hook you up with a great deal on a brand new unit.

i bought this unit cause it plays mp3 and is double din.. it matches interior pretty well..
|
It is very possible that the OEM factory radio made by Fosgate is set up where the head unit powers the front speakers and the rear speakers are powered by an external amp, so the rear outputs or the Xterra headunit is only sending out a low level signal.
|
dammit ... quiter frankly this blows.. i have to dig up info on this rockford fosgate.. any idea what's the best approach ?
