Factory alarm...won't activate
Has anybody had a problem with the factory alarm? Mine won't activate. The remote locks the doors but alarm won't activate....could be a fuse, other problems? or go dealer or quickfix? any answers?
|
Does your lights flash when you hit the keyfob to lock?
|
What do you mean it "won't activate". It doesn't go off if you leave the windows down, lock the car with the fob, wait a few seconds, reach in and unlock either door by hand and open it with the handle?
|
make sure your trunk , doors, and hood are all closed properly
|
If it just does not beep, I believe you have to hold the lock and unlock buttons together and that should activate your horn. That might be your problem.
|
Ditto on the beep- if it's turned off the doors will lock and the lights will not flash (at least on my 06) but the alarm is still armed. Just looks different.

Roll down your window then lock the car with the key fob. Wait 60 seconds then reach in and unlock the door and open it. If the alarm goes off, you're good; if not, then you have a problem.

the signal lights flash and the horn goes off, doors lock but the main lights don't and the when windows rolled down and unlocked, nothing happens.

Doesn't the factory alarm go off from a voltage drop? What if his dome lights are switched to the always off position? Wouldn't that prevent the alarm from going off? I had the car for a few weeks before I realized the Z didn't have an alarm as standard equipment. :( LOL |

Yes, the alarm is standard on all Zs.
Chad68 - no the alarm isn't triggered by a voltage drop and I don't see what the interior light would have to do with the alarm system anyway. This is the explanation from Chapter 2 of your owners manual. (That thing that everybody gets but nobody reads.) VEHICLE SECURITY SYSTEM The vehicle security system provides visual and audio alarm signals if parts of the vehicle are disturbed. Security indicator light This light blinks whenever the ignition switch is in the LOCK, OFF or ACC position. This is normal. How to arm the vehicle security system 1. Close all windows. The system can be activated even if the windows are open. 2. Remove the key from the ignition switch. 3. Close and lock all doors, hood and rear hatch/trunk lid. Lock all doors by pressing the LOCK button on the keyfob. When using the keyfob, the hazard indicators flash twice to indicate all doors are locked. 4. Confirm that the security indicator light comes on. The security indicator light glows for about 30 seconds and then blinks. The system is now activated. If, during this 30 second time period, the door is unlocked by the key or the keyfob, or the ignition key is turned to ACC or ON, the system will not activate. Even when the driver and/or passengers are in the vehicle, the system will activate with all doors, hood and rear hatch/trunk lid locked and ignition key off. Turn the ignition key to ACC to turn the system off. Vehicle security system activation The security system will give the following alarm: The headlights blink and the horn sounds intermittently. The alarm automatically turns off after approximately 50 seconds. However, the alarm reactivates if the vehicle is tampered with again. The alarm can be shut off by unlocking a door with the key, or by pressing the UNLOCK button on the keyfob. The alarm is activated by: Opening the door without using the key or keyfob. Opening the rear hatch or the trunk lid without using the release switch or keyfob. Opening the hood. How to stop an activated alarm The alarm will stop only by unlocking a door with the key, or by pressing the UNLOCK button on keyfob. The alarm will not stop if the ignition switch is turned to ACC or ON. If the system does not operate as described above, have it checked by your NISSAN dealer. |

Well I locked it before with the windows down and opened it from the inside and nothing happend. Maybe I didn't wait 60 seconds. I'm gonna go try again. |
Wow you will never guess what I just found out what my Z has:icon44:
Before when I tested it, I must have not waited 60 seconds. Swear to God I couldn't find the alarm info listed in my manual. Found the section on how to change the key fob settings for the keyless entry but nothing on the alarm. Could never understand why the panic button worked but that they didn't bother to make the alarm functional. I was like damn how much would it have cost Nissan to just have the damn alarm functional as standard equipment. Ummm now I know why:icon14: :icon22: |
